Hoop Blah
prostak I'll just leave this here.

What a load of bollocks....but I'm not surprised by Mr'ism himself posting it.

Why doesn't the artical talk about Gerrard or Keane only being talked about in terms of their power and desire, or why Henry of Ronaldinhio were/are so admired for their grace and balance?

Did I make any of the points in that uh... artical, or did I just post it? Glad to have hit your radar enough to have a nickname though, babe x

Alan Partridge pace, power, skills, finish with both feet, good in the air, 21 it's a no brainer. I might break my exile to watch the tank, I walked away from Hereford on New Years day thinking if Torquay sell Benyon I'd love it if they could sign Manset.....yeah right, 15 days later CHampionsip clubs are looking at him and probably one will take him. Scouting 20.

The goals on You-Tube show he can score from anywhere. Promising lad, still VERY young with 26-27 being the peak years for strikers

Might make a jason Scotland hold-up type too

HEREFORD United chairman David Keyte has warned Mathieu Manset suitors that it would take a fee in the region of £500,000 to prise their top-scorer away from Edgar Street.

The Bulls supremo revealed he has already rejected an undisclosed offer from a Championship side for their powerhouse French striker.

With 13 goals to his name this season, Manset, who has netted seven in the last eight matches, has attracted attention from clubs in both the Championship and League One.

Both Reading and Swansea City are reported to have had the former Le Harve frontman watched as the two squads look to bolster their frontlines in the January transfer window as they push for the Premier League.

However, Keyte is reluctant to let his prize asset leave Edgar Street as they look to pull away from the Football League trapdoor.

“We have had one enquiry for Mathieu which we turned down,” Keyte said. “It was from a Championship club but it did not meet our valuation.

“For us to even consider letting him go it would need an offer that we couldn’t refuse — somewhere in the region of £250,000 to £500,000.

“But we don’t want Mathieu to go. Our priority is to start climbing the table and ensure our Football League status.”

That's quite a large window. Presumabaly it's start the bidding at 250K

Indeed. He's not the best when it comes to negotiating. An offer of £275k plus another £125k if we get promotion would probably do it. Maybe send a player in their direction on loan.

Today's EP says (& let's hope it becomes more concrete by the end of the week).

Reading FC target Manset
By Jonny Fordham
January 19, 2011

Reading are considering following up their double swoop for Sean Morrison and Brett Williams with a move for Hereford United striker Mathieu Manset.

The French-born sharpshooter is out of contract in the summer and, after scoring 13 goals already this season, the 21-year-old is also being watched by Burnley, Crystal Palace, Bournemouth and Charlton.

Royals this week landed centre-back Morrison for £250,000 from Swindon and forward Williams for a bargain £50,000 from Conference South side Eastleigh – and boss Brian McDermott hinted there could be more January recruits.

Manset, who is nicknamed The Beast, was on target in Hereford’s 3-0 win over Stockport on Saturday.

And head scout Steve Shorey saw him score the winner against Wycombe Wanderers earlier this month.

McDermott said: “I think there will be a number of clubs looking at him. We might be in the frame to look at him as well, but we will see. With any deal there is a lot of work to be done.

“We’ve got two players in and if something else comes our way and we think it’s a possibility, then we will have a look at it.”

Although Manset will soon be a free agent, Hereford would be entitled to a compensation fee under the Bosman ruling because he is under the age of 24.

The former Le Havre trainee recently implied that he is likely to leave Hereford in this transfer window, saying: “I am always speaking to my advisers.

“I am confident of things going the way which would be good for everyone involved. I am relaxed and trusting people who look after me in my sports career. They are professionals and

look after big-name players already.”

McDermott also confirmed that he isn’t interested in entertaining offers for any of his players.

Striker Shane Long has been linked with a move to West Ham, while Simon Church is interesting Mick McCarthy’s Wolves.

But McDermott said: “I’m not thinking about anyone leaving. There isn’t anyone knocking my door down wanting to leave. The players are enjoying their football

Agree. He looks like he MIGHT make it big, (no joke intended) but even if he didn't develop he would probably sell on for an OK amount and little loss.

I'd've thought 250K was not unreasonable.

The 300K for BWP was a special case as they were desperate and the player had a medical history

On BWP, according to Sky they've (Plymouth) had three (more?) offers for him. I wonder if we are still haggling, trying to get Plymouth to shoulder some risk, to partly cover the possibility of him breaking down?

I have only seen Mathieu Manset play on videos but I think that we should really go for him. He is young, strong and from his size he wouldn’t be knocked off of the ball very easily. He appeared to have more ball control technique than many of those in the first team and I think that in a couple of years he would be a legend at the club. I do believe that we are collecting a team of youngsters for the future and he could be a star in that team.
