So glad we have got him. Been very impressed with what I have seen, even if it has only been on Youtube. Still, a lot of clubs were interested, so a real coup.

Tomorrow: Longy and The Tripod up front? Hull may be in danger of getting a new one ripped.

Mathieu first came to our attention in May 2008 when we saw him playing for Le Havre against Lyon and we've tracked his development ever since.

Very excited about this signing I must admit. Definately gives us a different option, and it is only healthy for a team to have 4 strikers competing for positions, and of course to provide cover in case Long or Hunt get injured. Best of luck Mathieu, I can see you becoming one of my favourite players if you live up to your potential

Hope he doesn't get disappointed and stop trying because there are only 14,000 there.

Football fans being bitter at former player leaving.

One glance on their board and a host of opinions of 'we're going down' plus having seen him with my own eyes is more than enough for me to say they have lost their best player by a billion miles.

21 years old, the raw talents there things like fitness can always be worked on. He won't have the expectation of the whole club on his shoulders and over time will be a very good signing for Reading in my opinion.

Good thing about this is it gives us that different type of forward, so can't complain about that.

The lads been in good goalscoring form too so should be full of confidence BUT it's still a massive jump up from the League 2 (and the bottom end of it too) to the Championship.

I fancy McDermott will start him tomorrow purely for the surprise factor and to make the most of his current form. Better to gamble on him for the first half then take him off and have 45 minutes to recover than throw him on when we need something from him and see him potentially fail.

In a team of pretty dull and average performers (Kebe apart) I think this lad could be bit of a hit.

I have heard he is very knackered by 70 mins - I think we will need to increase fitness - but he could be a player!

Thank goodness. More strength in depth and a completely different option up front.

Would have loved to have got Austin or Vaughan but realistically whilst Madejski remains was probably the best (or better than) that we could have hoped for. Mind you, I bet Spacey is fuming!

Bonjour et bonne chance Mathieu!

Now all we need is for Hammond and Madejski to disappear off this planet until the window is firmly shut. The last thing we want now is a transfer(s) out to balance the books!

We are used to that with Hunt.

"Playing in front of 20,000 people is not the same as what I have been used to at Hereford. So I am excited. It's amazing."

What have they told the lad?

Sounds like Bobby Mikhailov all over again.

And for a while Sigurdsson didn't look up to 90 minutes either. He's only 21 and some players take longer than that to build up the stamina for this level.
