Back from the Game - Hull (H)

by LoyalRoyalFan » 22 Jan 2011 18:05

Shocking referring performance and Reading failing to put the game away.

Ian Harte and Federici made a mess up for the Hull goal.

Manset and Robson-Kanu looked decent when they came on. Liam Rosenior got a lot of stick, Harper didn't get any.

Good to hear Elwood had another good game. Did Manset really look ok? that's a bit of good news if true. I'd like to give Church more slack but we need goals when Long isn't on-target.

Manset had a few good touches but looked off the pace. Built like a tank and looks a good prospect.

Ended up as a bit of a stalemate. Hull defended well, we had plenty of possession but didn't really create many clear cut changes. Poor comm from Harte for their goal. Too hard to judge Manset- he s only just met his team mates. No really poor performances, for me only Legs stuck out - he's been a great addition. Church didn't look great, good runs but noone in the team had the pin point passes to pick them out, his first touch was poor tho.

Ref was shocking, long got battered today. If hunt is out for a while I'm glad we have back up in Manset

Didn't really create many clear cut chances, credit to Hull though they had done their homework

feds 7- didnt do that much today, harte's fault for the goal and not feds
griff- 7 decent performance
mills 8- MOM- i thought mills was solid today, Pearce was also very good but for me mills just scrapes MOM for me
Pearce 8- Strong and assured, another good performance
Harte 6- at fault for the goal, doesnt look like a championship player at all, made up with the penalty though
kebe 7- had some moments of genious, but seems to get very disinterested sometimes
karacan 7- played a few good balls, lots of energy as usual, but was wasteful at times
elwood 8- broke up the play well and done some decent runs however as the game went on he started to become wasteful as well
mcanuff 7- was effective some of the time, but gave away the ball quite a lot today, seems to play much better in the middle then on the wing
church 6- didnt look like a threat at all, still dont see much in him tbh
long 8- worked his socks off as usual, but not quite the same standard as the last few games, maybe because of his slight knock in the first half?

Manset 6- didnt do a lot, still needs time
HRK 7- put a few decent balls into the box and done a few good runs

ref 1- attrocious
linesmans 1- attrocious

worst officials in quite some time

Pretty uninspiring stuff.

Hull had 2 shots i think and 1 of them was a defensive fuk up. Not hard to see why their games are so low scoring. Strong and organised, zero attacking quality.

Long MOM. Any other playing would have been subbed, he got battered to pieces yet still picked himself up, played on injured and won us a point.

feds 7- Nothing to do all game
griff- 7 Average
mills 8- Good performance - Great tackle at end
Pearce 7- The Boy can head a ball - Still not sure of the rest
Harte 6- Shocker for there Goal - Freekicks were better today - Penalty calmly taken
kebe 7- In and out performance today - should have switched sides more - Would have pissed all over Rosenior
karacan 7- Average couldn't remember much that stood out
Legs 8- Man of the Match he broke up there play and had some lovely passes
mcanuff 7- Great when coming inside but inefective on the wing
church 5- How many Offside ffs
long 8- Run his socks off as usuall - Should have had more if the Ref had been to Specsavers

Ref - Worst this season - Hopeless

Federci - 7 Maybe could have communicated better with Harte?
Harte - 5 Messed up for the goal but passed and defended (otherwise) well
Griffin - 7 Solid if not spectacular
Mills 9 - Faultless, dominating performance
Pearce - 8 Strong in the air, played well
L'wood - 7 Defensively 10/10, passing 3/10, shooting 1/10! But he's mainly there to defend...
Karacan - 7 Good, but needs to contribute a little more going forward
McAnuff - 6 Dribbles well, but end product lacks a bit, very nearly scored one of his long rangers, but most were timid
Kebe - 7 Like jobi, ran with the ball well, but lacked end product
Long - 8 Lead the line well, but ball wouldn't drop for him, took some rough treatment too, has a knack for 'winning' penalties!
Church - 5 Just too anonymous.

Hal R-K - 6 Ok, but not enough time to make a real impact
Manset - 6 Not as big as he looks in the photos and my main disappointment is that he won ZERO aerial battles; he just doesn't leap even half was well as Long does! Like that he tried a few tricks, liked that and seems to have OK pace, but seemed to be knackered from the moment he got onto the pitch. Too early to say, but excitement slightly muted after my initial (irrational) high levels of hope.

Ref and Lino's - 7
RFC Fans - 5
Hull Fans 7

Verdict: Reading should have converted first half dominance to goals, but the second half was equal. I'll take a draw but feel like it was a chance missed.

Frustrating match to watch as Hull are yet another Championship side that arrived with the ambition of getting a point - or maybe a breakaway win if they get lucky. This seems to happen all too often these days and teams that defend well are hard to break down. You can see why they concede so few goals - but they also will not make the play offs as they are not adventurous enough. If it had not been for the catastrophic error I think we may have nicked it towards the end - but as it was I was quite grateful for a draw in the end as I did not really see us getting back into it.

Legs was excellent again. My MOTM. Works well with Karacan.
Fed little to do.
Long not perhaps at his absolute best but considering the tough and rough treatment he got and no protection from the poor referee - overall he did well.
Both centre backs were very good today as was Griffin
Appalling mistake by Harte but made up for it to some extent with a superb penalty.
Thought Church was a bit disappointing.
Thought Manset looked quite good. Good touch and with regular training and more fitness he will be a very good plan B
Thought R-K did ok in his cameo at the end. He has lots of skill and I am not sure why so many on here are against him.
Kebe and McAnuff both a bit mixed - lots of good things and some less good things.

Overall probably 2 points dropped but Hull will cause many of the other top teams problems before thee end of the season

Referee poor and sveral of teh linesams offside decisosn looked dubious from where I was.

this ^^^^^^

Hull were shocking, haven't seen a more negative team at our place for a while, they Were no threat at all, their goal was a joke, I'm glad Harte was given the pen duty to make some amends.

Rosenoir was excellent, boo all you want, he was quality and thrived on the abuse, Harper was pretty anonymous, Hull fans, especially pink t shirt were cocks.

Hull probably the most poor, boring, negative side I have seen this season.
Apart from the first minute I don't think they crossed the half way line in the first half.
Zero ambition!
They only scored because we teed it up for them.

Harte was pretty solid until THAT ballsup
The defence had very little to do especially in the 1st half. We had plenty of pressure without a cutting edge and should really have been ahead at half time.
From my position in the North Stand one of theirs should have gone on the stroke of half time for scything through Long. The ref bottled it as he appeared to on numerous occasions this afternoon.

Manset looked out of his depth. I would rather see Antonio.

Legs/Long probably our best players.

One other thing. What has "Northern Air" done to Rosenior and Harps. Both had Mullets

Incredibly. He was puffing badly within minutes.

Fortunately that is something that can be fixed. I can foresee quite a few extra training sessions with the fitness coach over the next few weeks.

That having been said, I think it does display a slight flaw (laziness? inability to push himself to the limit?) in his character. There is absolutely no excuse for a full time professional footballer not maintaining high levels of fitness.
