Will Holloway keep to his word and quit?

Disgraceful decision.

Had Blackpool failed to register any of those players in the 25 man squad?

I'd like Holloway to quit on principal. Nothing against the man (though he can be a bit of a cock) but he said he'd go so he should go.

It remains to be seen if Holloway will keep to his word and resign, but he did later qualify that by saying he would only go if chairman Karl Oyston agreed it was in the club's best interest.

It was all hot air by Holloway in the first place.

Once Wolves were fined last time out I think this was always going to happen. It shouldn't really because the managers should be able to select who they like but they'd have rightly been criticised having fines Wolves previously for the same thing.

Is there anything else out there that gives an indication of how many changes the Premier League see as an acceptable number of changes?

Makes a mockery of the 25 man squads really - what's the point if you get fined for picking a team from it.

You might as well make each club name their starting 11 in August and have a rule that you can't make more than say 4 changes from that week by week.

Ridiculous decision. Why have a 25 man squad if you can't pick the players in it.

Angry.

Arsenal made 8 changes when they played Wigan on 29 Dec. They have to get fined too now, surely? Or is the Premier League's position that Bendtner is better than Harewood so Arsenal are allowed?

They were so close to getting a draw in that game.
A ridiculous position after the 25 man rule came in and once again the FA is taking it out on one of the smaller clubs.
We have had a week of so-called sexism vaguely associated with football and now we have the ruling body of the game itself clearly guilty of bullying.
All we need now is a racist slur within the game to complete the treble in one week.

Blackpool fined £25,000 by Premier League

by bigmike » 28 Jan 2011 09:43

When a side like Liverpool Man u Cheatski or Arsenal do it its called squad rotation but is a small club do it they get fined for fielding a weakened team...

Absolute disgrace

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/b/blackpool/9378679.stm

Blackpool have been fined £25,000 by the Premier League for fielding a weakened team in a league game against Aston Villa on 10 November.

The Seasiders boss made 10 changes to the side that drew 2-2 against Everton at Bloomfield Road the Saturday before.

Blackpool manager Ian Holloway had threatened to resign if the club were fined, later saying: "I'm the manager and I manage the players how I want."

The Seasiders have 14 days to decide whether to appeal against the fine.

As I posted earlier in the thread, just where do you draw the line?

Skyline, on page2, Thing is, where do you draw the line as far as 'too many changes' is concerned? If you say 10 changes is 'too many' (as the FA did with Wolves last year), what about 9?

If 9 is 'too many', what about 8?

Still too many? OK, how about 7? 6? 5?

Just where do you draw the line on this?

Agree, it is a disgrace. How many replacements constitutes rotation, as oppose to 'fielding a weakened side'? 6? 7?

If I was Holloway I'd write to the Premier League, remind them the squad list, tell them who's injured and ask them to write back with his team for the West Ham game.

Sir Alex makes 10 changes and its called squad roatation... if they happen to win the game its then called inspired..

When a Small team do the same thing and are beaten by a last min goal they get fined..

Typical Premier league looking after the big teams mentality

Get off that high horse. I was just pointing you to the discussion that's already taking place, so you can read up on what other people on here have said. That's if you're interested in it which, given that you started the thread, I'm guessing you are.

They had no option but to fine Blackpool though - after what they did with Wolves.

I reckon Blackpool will appeal and it will get suspended

The rules were changed since Wolves.

Managers were told to name a 25 man squad.

Holloway used his squad.

That should have been the end of it.

Blackpool should play some women in their team and when the FA fine them they can sue for sexisim
