The simple fact football clubs always miss is that no number of food options (healthy or otherwise), drink promotions, improved or cheaper wine, pre-match or half-time entertainments or whatever will sway people to come to the football if they don't want to.

People come for the football, first and foremost, because they want to see football, and everything else is peripheral to that.

An attractive, winning team will get people through the gates - endless tinkering with the merchandise and the fripperies will not have the same effect.

Maybe not, but anything that, even in a small way, enhances the enjoyment of the day will stay in the mind which will have a positive effect somewhere along the line when people are teetering on whether to go or not.
