The simple fact football clubs always miss is that no number of food options (healthy or otherwise), drink promotions, improved or cheaper wine, pre-match or half-time entertainments or whatever will sway people to come to the football if they don't want to.

People come for the football, first and foremost, because they want to see football, and everything else is peripheral to that.

An attractive, winning team will get people through the gates - endless tinkering with the merchandise and the fripperies will not have the same effect.

Maybe not, but anything that, even in a small way, enhances the enjoyment of the day will stay in the mind which will have a positive effect somewhere along the line when people are teetering on whether to go or not.

Yes, you might get a few floaters - but what is on the pitch in 99.99% of what attracts people and decides them whether to go or not.

All the fripperies in the world won't make floaters come to the football if the football has no appeal.

Let's hope those that manage the club realise that.

It is not just at RFC tho, so lets be fair, football is the greedy golden pot now, it is not just players that get rich from it.

Andy Gray was earning more from talking shite on the telly than he ever earned from football.

Agreed. And then we have idiots like Bendtner moaning about what a hard life he has and how he isn't allowed to go on a skiing holiday - boo hoo!

The English set up appears the worst of the lot. At least on the continent you can get still into a top quality stadium/match without having to take out a mortgage to pay for the tickets.

Actually can see Cardiff winning it having sat in the family stand and seen what they put on to entertain the kids.

Reading won an award for "engaging female supporters" - the opposition they were up against must of been crap as I have absolutely no idea as to what they have done to "engage me"!

YEEE!

And maybe next year, after families and females, it'll be the turn of middle-aged male f*ckers like me (the bedrock of the club's support for the last xx years btw) to be "engaged".

Maybe more female Reading supporters got engaged this season than any other club's female supporters? Or was there greater usage of the ladies toilets? Just more marketing b/s for the cocks in their ivory towers to feel smug about.

This is great news. It can only be a matter of time before a fresh picture of the fragrant Sara Jacob is posted on the offical site.
