Snowball Exactly. We could have won at Cardiff.

Would we then have lost to QPR? I doubt it.

Would we then have got at least a draw at Norwich? I suspect so

This is pointless. Could have,would have,should have. We didn't though and thats what matters.

Hmm...still plenty of time left to make these previous results not matter imo...

It seems obvious to me that something is lacking at RFC, if that is a better player here or there, or something in the dressing room or on the training ground I don't know.

I wonder if perhaps we dont have an underperforming squad like last season, when BM took over, which allowed him to get the results moving with a couple of additions. I wonder if they cannot perform on a consistant basis. Because they are not quite good enough to really challenge at the moment, sadly from what I read there seems to be a lack of football as well, as the long ball seems a favourite ploy at the moment.

Father Christmas is alive in Reading. Considering the number of points we have given away this season.Even SKY sports
said if we beat Watford we could still be considered outsiders for play-offs. Have we got a secret plan for promotion?
If so will someone tell the team :cry: :shock:

Not enough investment in the team;
Inexperienced manager, awful tactician;
Poor strikers;
No attacking/creative midfielder / no replacement for Sigurdsson;
Aging/slow defence;
More players to go this summer.

A return to the third tier is very likely next season.

I wonder if Southampton fans still moan about the failure to sign adequate replacements for Bale and Walcott. And how the money made from their transfers hasn't resulted in a higher position than League One.

Remaining Games

by RoyalX » 20 Feb 2011 02:33

10/14 of our remaining games are against teams below us in the table. I don't really need Snowball to tell me that that looks like a good ratio.

Is anyone else slightly cheered by this?

I wish I was optimistic about it...but I am not.

We seem to be playing to the level of our opposition. We play the teams above us tough and end up with a lot of draws or close losses. Then we play the teams below us tough with a lot of draws and the occasional win. McD has leaned on the core of the team heavily due to a lack of depth. I think they are wearing down a bit at this point. I am hopeful for good results but not optimistic. I don't think we'll have what it takes to make the top 6...

If we win all of our remaining games, we'll have 85 points, which has been enough for automatic promotion in....

Never mind.

How about a cup run?

You mean teams like Sheffield United?!

Not cheered by this at all. McDermott has finally realised we lack quality, now he's just got to get that message through to his chairman.

Is it as simple as lacking quality though?

Haven't our tactics been terribly predictable for a while now
and other sides know how to deal with us?

Not really, no. We're more than capable of losing to anyone, as well as beating anyone on our day. It'll be the same old mediocre performances, but we'll be safe from relegation and that really is the most important factor IMO.

Clearly league position has got little to do with it. If everything was a banker then there would be little gnashing of the teeth.
