Kebe and the east stand...

I really think the East stand needs to start getting behind Kebe, to boost his confidence....

It seems when he's playing in the first half, over on the West side he is a hell of a lot better than he is in the 2nd half - now at first i just thought it was down to his (lack of) fitness but McD and staff would have worked on this if so................sooooooooooooo i reckon he is just nervous about making a cock up infront of the East stand, being so close to them he is more concerned about what everyone will think/say.

So on Tuesday against Millwall, in the 2nd half when he's over on the East side - really get behind him - boost his confidence and see him shine

i think you're right - Kebe is a confidence player. McDermott got the best out of him last season by giving him some love rather than bollocking him for not turning it on all the time. He's our best player, ie he can win games on his own (or near enough) - we should be chanting his name. For some reason fans have never really entirely warmed to him.

Could the reason be that he earns a vast sum of money, yet hardly performed when he first got here. And in his first full season at this level managed just two goals in the league, hardly great for a forward.

TBM, are you sure it's not just that he's moved to the otherside of the pitch so he's not so close to you for you to notice so much?

It could also be that defenders take that first 20/30 minutes to suss out his pace and which way he's going to run. By the second half they just know how to play him a bit better.

Hang on - First Half, he kept trying to cut innside his man and beat 3 more people and the ball was cleared all the time, got about 2 crosses in in 45 minutes and while he got a bit worse 2nd half, for the last 10 minutes he got the game by the scruff of the neck and went outside the full back and created our best chances - in front of the east stand...

The section of East Stand nearest the North definitely gets behind Kebe. However, he is rarely a '90 minute player' and usually goes right off the boil at points in the game which can be extremely frustrating.

In the second half on Saturday the ball was running towards the Watford bye-line, chased by their not particularly fast left back who in turn was being caught by Kebe. For some reason known only to himself, Kebe decided to give up the chase. Perhaps he thought the ball was going to run out of play. Only when some of the supporters yelled angrily at him did he start to run chase again, closed the left back down and very nearly got to the ball before it ran out of play. Had he not stopped running he would easily have beaten the left back to the ball and kept it in play.

It appears to me that at present he lets his head drop far too easily.

I saw that from the upper west, where we all still love Jimmy and give him our strongest support, and it did seem a bit odd. On that occasion, he couldn't have got the ball, but there other times when he didn't quite seem with it.

He is recently injured, off form and the team isn't winning: maybe he does just need a bit of a boost from his home fans.

If the same incident it happened in front of us and he very definitely would have got the ball had he not stopped. Even when he restarted he got within a yard of it.

I can remember a televised game earlier this season when a right winger from another club created a goal from a similar situation where he chased after what Kebe might have regarded as a lost cause, got to the ball and crossed it with the defence all over the shop.
