Still think we have too many teams to both stay ahead of and overhaul, similar to last season, if we've got it together and push for it rather than stay on our usual up and down form, I think we've left it a couple of weeks too late.

I think 7th is as good as we'll get... the closer we are to the play offs the more chance we have of convincing some of our bigger players to stay on and give us another 6 months at least to see if they can get promoted with us.

Agreed but last season we stuttered quite badly.
After losing at Blackpool then getting four straight wins it got a bit messy

W4 D4 L3 21-13 (but two games gave us 10-1)

A 1-1 Middlesbrough
A 2-1 Leicester City
H 1-1 WBA
A 1-2 Ipswich
H 3-0 Coventry
A 0-0 Cardiff
H 1-2 Newcastle
H 6-0 Peterborough
A 2-2 Scunthorpe
A 0-3 Watford
H 4-1 Preston

If we match that not-so-good last eleven we'll finish on 67 points, about 8/9th, probably.

If we succeed in achieving 2 points per game we'll have 73 points, 3 better than Blackpool last year but still only last year's 6th. IMO that will not be enough, and might (with bad luck) only be good enough for eighth.

We have to get 2 ppg, AND NOT LOSE at Forest of Leeds, and see Burnley and Hull stumble.

On the positive side, none of the sides from 2nd-6th look "safe". THREE of them lost yesterday and Forest are really starting to wobble (they might be our best chance)

Hull have still to play Burnley, Norwich, Swansea and QPR (and Millwall and Watford)(and Bristol City away
7/11 toughies

Norwich have Hull, Leicester, Forest, Swansea (and Watford away, Portsmouth away and a derby game v Ipswich)
7/11 toughies

Leeds have Forest, Reading, Burnley, QPR away on the last day and also have Millwall away
5 toughies

Swansea have Norwich, Forest, Hull and also Burnley away.
They also have Watford H, Ipswich H, Portsmouth A, Millwall A
EIGHT tough games in their last eleven

Burnley have Hull away, Leicester away, Leeds away, Forest away, Bristol away, Swansea and Cardiff at home (+ Millwall, Porstmouth, Ipswich to play) ten tough games in their 13

Hull-Burnley
Hull-Norwich
Leicester-Norwich
Swansea-Norwich
Swansea-Forest
Swansea-Hull
Leeds-Forest
Leeds-Reading
Leeds-Burnley
Leicester-Burnley
Forest-Reading
Forest-Leicester
Norwich-Forest
Cardiff-QPR
QPR-Hull
Burnley-Swansea
Reading-Leicester
Burnley-Cardiff
QPR-Leeds!

For me there are three things that will make this season brilliant.

Beating Man City.
Finishing Top 10 and Cardiff finishing outside Top 6
Finishing Top 6.

Finishing 7th would be a perfectly satisfactory season for me.

Highest possible finish, an FA Cup Semi, almost had one last season but it went limp after HT.

Shane Long top scorer in the Division

Play-offs at least.

Bettering 63 points will mean we got more points in the Gylfi season.

We've already equalled the Gylfi season's cup run..

Whatever else happens I'd like to see

Shane pass 20 Goals for RFC for the season (League) (3 goals to go, 11 games + a possible 3 more games)
Shane pass 25 Goals for RFC for the season (All RFC Games) (6 goals to go and 12 + a possible 6 more games)
Shane pass 30 Goals in all senior competitions this season including internationals. (9 goals to go, 14 + poss + 6 games)
Shane pass 55 Goals for RFC and beat Doyle's record. (7 to get in 12+ He will probably just miss)

Harte pass 10 goals this season for RFC
Hunt pass 10 goals this season for RFC

Church get a few more goals, a ten-minute hat-trick in our final home game
Manset, Morison, Williams each to score in a senior game.

Elwood to sign permanently. Shane to commit to one more year

Play-offs aren't going to happen.

If we get 9 from the next 12 I might start considering it as a possibility however....

Thing is that the chances are that the play-offs are sensibly out of reach, but as I have said befoe BM has a knack in one off games, unlike SC who was poor in single games,IMHO, having a smaller squad is helping as well, tighter, no dissidents outside the team.

Don't want much, eh? Three away games, two extremely tough and a
home game against a team that's just won their last six on the bounce

A Ipswich
A Barnsley
H Portsmouth
A Forest

If we get 9 or more from our next 12 I'd fancy us for 4th or 5th!!

I don't 'want' anything I'm just saying IMO we need to hit a real hot streak in the midst of this cup run to have even a sniff. I.e. 3 from 4.

Snowball,
You are still falling in the trap of thinking that certain games are "toughies".
They are ALL "toughies" whether they be away at Leeds and Forest or at Preston and Scunthorpe.

There are few easy games Faq, but I meant, in particular, THESE

Hull-Burnley
Hull-Norwich
Leicester-Norwich
Swansea-Norwich
Swansea-Forest
Swansea-Hull
Leeds-Forest
Leeds-Burnley
Leicester-Burnley
Forest-Leicester
Norwich-Forest
Cardiff-QPR
QPR-Hull
Burnley-Swansea
Burnley-Cardiff
QPR-Leeds!

Reading-Leicester
Leeds-Reading
Forest-Reading

For each of these games there are 3 points for one side or 1 points each "dropping 2 points".

16 Games not involving RFC and 32-48 points MUST be dropped

We have ten games left and are now 2 points and 18 Goals ahead of last season's total with SEVEN games left.

So when we get to P39 we will be 2-11 points better off (probably 7-9) than the same time last year

12 Reading 39 14-10-15 52-55 GD = -03 52 (2009-10)
08 Reading 36 13-15-08 59-43 GD = +15 54 (2010-11)

A Barnsley Win there now and things are starting to get VERY interesting....
H Portsmouth Glad their bubble has finally burst... a good result at Barnsley, and then manage to beat Pompey, ready to go to Forest
A Forest (They might have dropped out of the top six by then...)

The Last Ten Games 2009-10 Season

Last season only four of the top ten managed 2 points per game in the last ten games

1.7 ppg Leicester

To put that in perspective

Last season a club earning 20 points from their last 10 games would have

Fallen back 6 points from Newcastle
Fallen back 2 points from WBA
Fallen back 2 points from Cardiff

Kept pace with Blackpool

Gained 3 points on Leicester
Gained 4 points on Sheffield
Gained 5 points on Forest
Gained 6 points on Boro

Gained ELEVEN points on Swansea
Gained SIXTEEN points on Coventry
