Stephen Hunt: I thought he was a skill-free journeyman replacement for the likes of Convey. Despite that lack of skill, he turned out (at his best) to be a premiership player, with a tigerish intensity about his play that often amazed me.

I thought I had been watching this game long enough to be a good judge of both player and prospective manager, but messers Leigetwood and McDermott have pleasurably proved me completely wrong.

I thought Glen Little was utterly crap when he was on loan to us.

Mikele Leigertwood - After his first game he didn't look like settling into the Reading style of play, Now he's an essential cog.

Andre Bikey - Headbutting an opponent and getting red carded in his debut - a pre-season friendly whilst on trial with us. As it turned out, he wasn't a bad player.

Glen Little - didn't do alot on loan with us but once we signed him he was outstanding, arguably the most skillfull and exciting player to ever wear the hoops.

Keith Scott - wasn't always the old cart horse I thought he'd be.

Thought he was going to be the best thing since sliced bread. I remember he came on at the end of a season and was fantastic. Never made it though.

Absolutely. But he was massively bigged up. George Weah's mate, glowing reference from Wenger etc and as a footballing side we were at such a low ebb, we were desparate for a hero.

A stunning stunning home debut but sadly he was hit some some pretty devastating personal issues and i don't think his head or heart was in it any more. Add to that his previously undetected hamburger addiction kicked in and it all went wrong.

Colin Gordon - Near record signing and barring a 4 game spell early on, utter rubbish.

Onj the plus side, Adie Viveash. Pretty rubbish in his loan spell in the mid 90's, I was really underwhelmed with his permanent signing but he was a more than decent player for us.

Players need a run of a dozen games or so to settle in and establish themselves.

He was signed as a Premiership winger and in the 3 and a bit years since he's had a good 6 or 7 months of Championship football where he maintained a level of threat and consistency that made him our most potent attacking threat. I'm not convinced he's the real deal at Championship level let alone the Premiership level we signed him for.

He's been entertaining, and is still one of the players most capable of causing problems for sides in our team but just doesn't do it enough for me. I've enjoyed watching him at times, but not in the same way as watching a Kitson, Sidwell or Little who were the real deal.
