I'm not sure how we'll ever know how many people would have liked a ticket that ends up disappointed come tomorrow morning.

Spoke to someone today who said they were going to ring up tomorrow to get their ticket as they're in the 1599 down to 600 bracket - I advised him to stay up until midnight and get them online, to have any chance. He had no idea that we wouldn't get any more if these sold out - if people aren't on hobnob, how else do they know about the debacle? It's hardly being publicised!

add to that the people who are already making sure they get a ticket and buying them in the home sections.

On the subject of Royalty Points, would it be worth scrapping points that were accrued over 5 years ago?

No thank god for Royalty points or the <600s would get a look in.

- reduce the number neccessary gradually. Yes there will be none left for <1000 points.
- give more points for worse games. Eg. I have a few 5s from the likes of Brentford Blackpool and Sunderland (at 12-30pm) but am outnumbered by people who bought a half season ticket in the 106 season.

On the subject of Royalty Points, would it be worth scrapping points that were accrued over 5 years ago?

No thank god for Royalty points or the <600s would get a look in.

How about a loyalty scheme if you go to all cup games...even the Carling Cup away to Torquay and at home to Northampton...

Although I'm not sure it is such a major ticketing cock-up as it's being painted, I'll agree that the club have got it horribly wrong in two key ways :

- the free travel offer can only be redeemed via the sales centre at the time of booking tickets, so they have a cheap way and efficient way of selling tickets which they are actually disincentivising people from using, making them use the slowest and most expensive method,

- they aren't, as far as I can tell, telling people the regulations about no alcohol on coaches going to/from football matches (*) and they have little experience of running coaches. I can see all sorts of grief and problems when people turn up on Sunday with their cans for the journey or buy more at the motorway services. Let's hope they have coach stewards with strong personalities who know what they are doing - but as of this afternoon they were still looking for coach stewards.

Just for the record, does anyone actually know what the demand for these tickets is, or is it all assumptions or anecdotal.

It seems clear that there'll be greater demand than 2,800, but just how much extra demand? Double that? Or just an extra 10-20%?

Going by this thread, I'd say demand is more like 8000 - 10000, however, back in the real world...those unlucky not to get a ticket will probably be under 250...

With complete and utter crap like that, you truly are well qualified to work at Cockup FC formerly known as Reading FC. In fact you could go for TO Manager and Head of Communications.

Even if it was as low as that it is still 250 tickets that shouldn't have been a problem if anyone at the club had even half a brain and was able to move quicker than a snail.

And don't forget to add those who 'played safe' and have already gone for tickets in the City stands.

Chances are these people will have 1,600 + points!

But it would encourage more people to come to the cup games.

On the other hand, if you've been a loyal royal for decades why should you have to go to every game? If its your anniversary, family holiday etc of course you will miss them. The 15% cup rule is there for a reason - if you miss 1 league game as its sold out its not normally the end of the world.

The club have created more of a panic for tickets by taking ages to put them on sale (and obviously the coaches), but I will be suprised if we sell out before they go on general sale.

The evidence is here. 900 odd tickets left on day one with the vast majority of STHs not yet able (or hanging on for friends/family) to buy one. They won't go to general sale.

Of course, we'll never know just how many we MIGHT have sold. It's unquantifiable.

I'd rather RFC had been braver on the ticket allocation and risked a few grand on unsold tickets than spunked cash on free travel

Because, of course, it is so much to ask of them and so damn difficult to do. If they take as long trying to look into doing this as they did trying to look into doing the ticket sales, we can expect an announcement in three days time or so and even then it will be messed up!

I asked about an announcement and was told that the thing is they weren't expecting so much demand for tickets and therefore they didn't think they'd need to make any announcements today regarding the levels of tickets sold so they've actually used up all their web-space allocation for the day... If they'd known about the free coaches they would have asked for more.

Our so-called incredibly well run club is starting to look a bigger joke by the minute!

The morons have known about the free coaches since at least Friday. They've known about the high demand since at least Saturday. Just how long does it take to ask for more web space? And if they couldn't get it, then pull some of the other crap they were intending on publishing.

Theres gonna be a lot of people panic buying tickets as well. I mean if these people got to think about it and were guaranteed a ticket they would otherwise decide by Friday to just watch it on tv. Hype creates demand.
