PEARCEY
ZacNaloen My dad seems to remember that Swindon got done for some sort of paperwork irregularities and were summarily relegated, despite having won the league.

Their issue was money but principle is the same, the paper work filed was fraudulent.

Swindon received a double relegation which was reduced to a single relegation on appeal.
QPR are in deep trouble here. The timing of the tribunal could cause chaos if it happens over the next month or so.

For entertainment factor alone this will be great to watch unfold, but with it being March I can see the FA or who ever it is investigating this to bottle it or it carry over to next season if there isn't long enough to fully investigate everything and appeal etc. If Swindon's punishment was so severe then QPR really should face a relegation, and that would be comedy gold.

If you read between the lines they've been investigated it for over a year in secret. They just need to date the hearing.

Ian Royal fingers crossed for a buy option in the loan agreement which has already been done and dusted.

Screw it, I'm willing to sacrifice having Legs with immediate affect if it means QPR a) get relegated and b) we get to see Warnock's reaction.

no point reading anymore.... we *might* scrape in to the playoffs with or without Queen's Tarts being deducted points. It doesn't matter.

What does matter is that QPR are deducted massive points for knowingly falsifying documents and watching Colin have apoplexy before spontaneously combusting.

Frankly, that is worth not making the playoffs - very, very slim chance - and I would need an incontinence bag.

ZacNaloen What would Sheff UTD have to do with it?

Because the same thing happened the year they got relegated. They didnt take pts off West Ham with the Tevez saga - if they had Sheff U would not have gone down.

They will CATEGORICALLY have had to sign away all other rights to get the money.

That would be "the end of it". Standard practice

Royal Lady yeah, but I think they're saying that this time around Sheff Utd will WANT points deducted - cos that might save them from the drop this time!

How amazing this is (if it happens)

Sheff Utd get relegated because of an Argentinian merry-go-round

They get 30 Million squids but are going to get relegated again

only to be SAVED by an Argentinian merry-go-round

Meanwhile Colin gets shafted for the second time

Wouldn't this PROVE there is a God?

Having done a bit of digging I found this article:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009 ... rlos-tevez

At no point does it say the tribunal ruled that West Ham should have had points docked. It simply says:

"The panel has made a decision on liability (i.e. whether West Ham breached any duty to Sheffield United, such that it should compensate Sheffield United for the loss it suffered as a result), and notified both clubs about the ruling, which has not been made public.

But they are believed to have ruled in favour of Sheffield United (i.e. they are believed to have ruled that West Ham did breach a duty to Sheffield United and should pay damages in an amount sufficient to compensate Sheffield United for the losses it suffered as a result of that breach of duty). "

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/footbal ... 631557.stm

So whoever said earlier that the tribunal ruled they should have been docked points is wrong. It doesn't say that at all. The tribunal just ruled that West Ham's improper conduct had "breached duty" to Sheffield United.

With this in mind, I would suggest a hefty fine is on the cards not a deduction.

What would be the effect of the following?

QPR are relegated and all games v QPR are expunged?

It costs us zero and our GD goes up by 3...

I think even Stephen Fry would have to have a rethink if that happened!!

If they DID wipe out all results v QPR we would benefit, greatly

Lose 3 Points LEEDS, Watford
Lose 2 Points Burnley, Norwich
Lose 1 Points Bristol, Hull, Millwall, Norwich, Pompey, Preston, Swansea
Lose 0 Points, READING, Cardiff, Coventry, Ipswich, Leicester, Boro, SHEFFIELD UTD

Because God cannot allow himself to be proved, this cannot happen (sadly)

Given that they haven't "breached duty" to any other club i.e. no one got relegated as a direct result of this transfer then I just can't see how a pts deduction is on the cards at all.

They've breached a duty to the players fighting for promotion.

There's still 30million quid on the line, just going the other direction

Why?

Having read more about this and looking at Swindon when they got their punishment, a points deduction is the least they should get. Relegation is a possibility!

I still think the FA will bottle it tho and go for a lesser punishment.

The independent tribunal ruled that a fine was enough last time round so don't see why that position would change.

Clearly it didn't think a fine was enough or else there would have been no cause to pay sheffield utd any money :|

They clearly did think a fine was enough - they didn't rule that in future cases points would get docked did they?

The proof will be in the pudding.

I think munch is looking at it as two separate things... which may or may not be right.

He's saying the tribunal didn't rule on whether the PL should have deducted points and whether West Ham should have been punished in such a way that it resulted in relegtion.... but that in cheating they caused significant financial loss to Sheffield by avoiding a relegation they otherwise probably wouldn't have and therefore had to compensate Sheffield for that.

I'm not sure the tribunal could rule what punishment the PL should have made...

I'm still convinced there was a lower league case involving ineligibility where the team lost all the points gained with the player in the side (was about 7 - 13 I think), but I can't for the life of me think who it was... I'm sure it came up as a precedent during Tevezg8 though so it would have to be older than that.

Given that the dodgy deal took place before this season even started, it would be nigh on impossible to suggest that it has had a direct impact on this seasons results as well.
