1990 - Ardiles was in charge when Sw*ndon beat Sunderland 1-0 (Alan McLoughlin). First time the PO Final was held at Wembley. Sw*ndon found guilt of 36 instances of illegal payments and Sunderland promoted in their place. The chairman did bird as well for tax evasion.

They also got done for a betting scandal too, but I can't remember what the punishment was.

A Swindon player was att he centre of the early 60s match fiximg scandal - jail for him I guess but no impact on the club.

Lou Macari was accused of some sort of betting offence when he was Manager of Swindon. I think he may have been accused of betting against his own team but have a feeling that although he either resigned or was sacked no charges were levelled at Swindon.

Svlad Cjelli The big difference, it appears here, is that QPR are charged with knowingly submitted false documents - presumably to cover up what they knew was wrong. That's a big, big deal...

The FA The Club and Club Official Gianni Paladini are also charged in respect of allegedly false information contained in documents submitted to The FA in relation to the same player signing an extension to his playing contract with the Club in October 2010. These charges are brought under the Players Agents Regulations, C2, and FA Rule E3.

Hmmm. Hadn't realised quite how serious this could be. On the down side, both the foreign teams could get automatics.

Quite a bit to read here but stick with it, it's an excellent summary on a QPR blog

Jeez.

Interesting tho' that the league have come out NOW with this
and not ducked it until after the season's end.

But think. If QPR had been promoted, and say, Cardiff missed out, and then
it was discovered that QPR had gained points illegally, what a horrendous
mess would ensue.

With the Prem being worth at least 50 Million, this is great stuff.

Meanwhile Pompey keep their heads down...

I do love being a supporter of a decent, honest club.

I don't want to see QPR docked any points at all.

Considering West Ham didn't have any points deducted it would be unfair for QPR to be dealt that punishment. It would just show the favouritism that big clubs enjoy from the authorities in this nation.

It is the same favouritism that big companies seem to enjoy from the government when it comes to issues of being allowed to get away with only paying 1% corporation tax or when banks are bailed out and small firms are not bailed out.

There weren't proper rules in place duringTevezg8 regarding third party ownership, there are now.
Also the main problem for QPR seems to be the charges relating to the false documentation filed when Faurlin signed his new contract, which makes any reference to West ham irrelevant

Why not, feel sorry for the fans but as that QPR fan say "Secondly, and more seriously in my eyes, there is the issue of what happened in October this season when, it seems reading the charges, QPR were given the chance to rectify the situation and register Faurlin properly but cocked it up again."

They had the chance to put things right , but knowing they would probably lose the player for a few games whilst being sorted it, they messed it up again

That's like saying don't get Gadaffi for War Crimes
because Atilla the Hun didn't get done.

It's precisely BECAUSE West Ham squeaked through (and in the process set Sheffield United back probably 20 years) that the rules were tightened.

QPR clearly broke rules AFTER knowing all about these issues

then they were given a chance to clean up the mess but CONTINUED LYING

Much as I fee for the fans (my brother-in-law and nephews are QPR fans)
IMO they should be nothing less than relegated with a 10 Million fine

Excellent summary indeed. Put's Paladini's lunacy into perspective. What an absolute tool bag.

Good grief

Yes good read and the ultimate irony with Warnock blowing a gasket when Sheff Utd were relegated instead of West Ham and being a big voice on the rules being tightened and the book being thrown!

Mind, when you consider Sheff Utd got £30 million, plus parachute payments - after all that - look where they are now.

I do think this is a different scenario to the Tevez one - and the fact that they've continued to act illegally, when, as someone said, they were given the chance to do things properly, means they should be made an example of. The only thing that will hurt QPR is a massive points deduction. They can afford any fine. Why should they only get docked a few points and still have the chance to get into the Premiership? It would be totally unfair.

The thing that will get them is they had the chance to make it right in October, and didn't. That will be crucial.

The fact that Colin was so vociferous in his beefing about the inability of the authorities to properly punish West Ham I'm sure he'll de delighted that they now have the power in their hands to take effective action
