Elm Park Disease and TTB were good, and I think The Whiff struggled in comparison.

Yes, it was perhaps good to read something different from the programme, but as I remember it (haven't bought it for a while) it was mainly full of poor cartoons and rants that you can read (or ignore) several times a day on hob nob. It was very rare to find anything in there actually worth reading.

Maybe it changed of late and had a decent article or two in later issues, but I can't in all honesty actually think of any of them.

Dick Habbin's hairdo I'm an old Luddite who stills reads 'real' books, and buys newspapers and, on my rare visits to live footy, will always buy a fanzine over an official proggie.

Same as that, mate.
If you want to read Othello, in spite of it being printed in thousands of different languages, available free of charge at thousands of libraries, and being available in a portable format......oh, no; that's sooooo yesterday. To read it now, you need a portable plastic tablet, stuffed with electronic paraphernalia and semi precious metals in order to keep chinese factory workers in a job, and also increase the profits of global electronic corporates. this is tomorrow calling, and we're reinventing the wheel, just for a laugh.

Picked up a load of TTB, Elm Park Disease and The Whiff fanzines on Ebay which were great and funny reads, so if anyone wants to get rid then let me know

FTR, when we moved overseas 15 years ago, the Mrs said (I know, I *know*) I had to select and limit my reading matter to one box. My collection of Elm Park Disease, TTB and The Whiff made the cut.

So that is where you hid the porn

No, no, no.

The oxf*rd Bank is hidden elsewhere.

Focher And also just for the record:

Royals Rendez Vous > Jazz Cafe

Tilehurst Road slope being closed > Safety fence being erected
Pelada > Puma
Hat Painting > Waitrose
Giant foam COME ON YOU ROYALS hand > Rumblestix
Mick Foster > Jon Keen
Mark Gonella > Tim Dellor
Yule Log > Football Blog
Pitch invasion after a series of bad results > moaning on Twitter after a series of bad results
Policemen looking older > Policemen looking younger
Michael Ryan > Derrick Bird
Bergerac > Midsommer Murders
Points of View with Barry Took > Points of View with Jeremy Vine
Eggheads with Dermot Murnaghan > Eggheads with Jeremy Vine
Tim Vine > Jeremy Vine > Rowan Vine

Agreed m8. This sort of nostalgia is making me crave a Tuesday night Southbank burger. Tuesdays being the better option of course as they'd been reheated from Saturdays leftovers.

All of us involved in the Whiff over the years are genuinely sad to be bringing it to an end (again - we brought it to an end about 4 seasons ago but then had a second wind), and also appreciate the kind words on this thread.

This weekend (Leicester home) is indeed the last ever issue:
1) It will cost £2
2) If you want to secure a copy in advance, send an email to letters@thewhiff.co.uk by the end of Friday
3) No, it is not the programme.

It will feature exclusive interviews with Sir John and also Graeme Murty, as well as the usual mix of cartoons, pithy comment, wry humour and tawdry old bollox.

Sellers will be outside the megastore, and on all the two major approaches to the ground at the top of the hill. Copies also available in the Hobgoblin and Nags Head.

£2?? A 100% increase? Absolutely scandalous!

I thought it wasn't officially connected with RFC so why the RFC type increase?

Seriously though, I hope you've done a nice big print run (although I do understand the financial risks involved, so suspect you won't). I reckon it will be completely sold out by 2pm. I shall get there nice and early for our usual 3 copies - even at that new extortionate cover price!

I promise it will be the last one. Probably.

And the enormous price increase is justified by it being a bumper (60ish pages) edition.

Would you be kind enough to save me one, please? I could chuck a couple of coins in the post or buy your pint or two when I make one of the final games? I expect PayPal is far too nouveau for you, though....

Failing that, if someone would like to drop a copy off at St Barnabas, Emmer Green, I'm sure it will keep the Old Bat amused during the sermon on Sunday. Thanking you.

Is it a retrospective or all new stuff?

Ha - an elephant never forgets.

Besides, it was extra time and it took a nasty bobble. And I believe I scored twice in our 5-3 victory.
