Last Issue of The Whiff

Elm Park Disease and TTB were good, and I think The Whiff struggled in comparison.

Yes, it was perhaps good to read something different from the programme, but as I remember it (haven't bought it for a while) it was mainly full of poor cartoons and rants that you can read (or ignore) several times a day on hob nob. It was very rare to find anything in there actually worth reading.

Maybe it changed of late and had a decent article or two in later issues, but I can't in all honesty actually think of any of them.

If you want to read Othello, in spite of it being printed in thousands of different languages, available free of charge at thousands of libraries, and being available in a portable format......oh, no; that's sooooo yesterday. To read it now, you need a portable plastic tablet, stuffed with electronic paraphernalia and semi precious metals in order to keep chinese factory workers in a job, and also increase the profits of global electronic corporates. this is tomorrow calling, and we're reinventing the wheel, just for a laugh.

Picked up a load of TTB, Elm Park Disease and The Whiff fanzines on Ebay which were great and funny reads, so if anyone wants to get rid then let me know

FTR, when we moved overseas 15 years ago, the Mrs said (I know, I *know*) I had to select and limit my reading matter to one box. My collection of Elm Park Disease, TTB and The Whiff made the cut.

All of us involved in the Whiff over the years are genuinely sad to be bringing it to an end (again - we brought it to an end about 4 seasons ago but then had a second wind), and also appreciate the kind words on this thread.

This weekend (Leicester home) is indeed the last ever issue:

2) If you want to secure a copy in advance, send an email to letters@thewhiff.co.uk by the end of Friday
3) No, it is not the programme.

It will feature exclusive interviews with Sir John and also Graeme Murty, as well as the usual mix of cartoons, pithy comment, wry humour and tawdry old bollox.

Sellers will be outside the megastore, and on all the two major approaches to the ground at the top of the hill. Copies also available in the Hobgoblin and Nags Head.

Seriously though, I hope you've done a nice big print run (although I do understand the financial risks involved, so suspect you won't). I reckon it will be completely sold out by 2pm. I shall get there nice and early for our usual 3 copies - even at that new extortionate cover price!
