Try and find an national anthem sung as passionately by the fans as the English anthem is.

It was the first of all national national anthems, which has been adopted by other nations or taken as a template.

And it is our, naturally.

On a relevant tangent, it was in the states where the national anthem was first used in relation to sporting occasions....1930's, I think.

A pretty tepid game that one.

Wilshire and Young put in good performances but it really did seem like a decent Premier League side going through the motions against a very average Championship just looking to keep the score down.

Special in the respect that it is not about the nation, but about one person. :|

T.R.O.L.I. I foresee a dull but comfortable win for England.

Prediction: 2-0 England

The Real Sandhurst Royal Absolute disgrace from the Welsh fans booing the national anthem. We pay there f*cking salaries and pensions as most people in Wales are Public sector.

Those getting so precious about such a trifling matter would do well to remember that England were repeatedly threatened with sanctions by UEFA/FIFA during the 1990s for supporters booing opposing national anthems.

Welsh fans would do well to remember that GSTQ is their own anthem too, however

Hopefully, we can have a change of anthem when our Queen dies. Jerusalem will be much better.

Gotta say it is something special going to an England away game and singing the anthem. Makes it even better when you outsing the 62,000 Welsh fans all game, even if they were trying to drown us out with boos.
It is a pleasure to follow England and go to away games with passionate supporters. Stood up and sung all game yesterday.

Loud, indeed. I like this one better though. Much, and it'll never be that loud because it's not really supposed to be.

The most fun I have ever had with an anthem was when Ireland played France in Paris a couple of years ago and large sections of the Irish fans (there were 25,000 in the stadium - the French weren't all that bothered about the game) had printed out copies of the lyrics of the French anthem, and basically joined in (or did their best) - the French were totally (and positively) surprised and it set the tone for a great night.

What your clip does highlight though is that football federations (and etc.) should never ever employ someone to sing the anthem. Let the fans do it - it simply works much much better.
