Royalee Got a lot of time for Kitson, always tells it as it is and was an excellent player for us, not least in the two years leading up to our promotion season where he was head and shoulders above the rest of the team.

Totally agreed. It was a great signing. The manager of the time has to take a lot of credit I'm sure you'll agree.

Avon Royal Anyone booing Kitson or Sonko has no business supporting Reading.

Anyone not giving Halford the mother of all abuse has no business supporting Reading.

Kitson, Sonko and Ashdown should all get excellent receptions

Anyone who boo's him is an Idiot. He contributed a lot to this club and his goals were massively important for us. His attitude was fine, no more arrogant than most and always had time for the fans. If Leroy Lita gets a cheer when he comes back here, i'd expect the red carpet and standing ovation for Kitson.

Whore Jackie His two goal, seemingly single-handed, demolition of West Ham is right up there in Reading performances par excellence. For that alone, he'll be getting a wistful clap from me.

Saturday will be the 7th anniversary of that day - how quick time flies

Mr Angry Kitson's reception - hugely positive

Sonko's reception (if he plays) - hugely positive

Ashdown's reception - most people would have forgotten he played for us!

Halford's reception - hugely negative!!!

This man has it spot on.

I will be applauding him even if he scores as he's my favourite Reading player ever- anyone who boos him is extremely fickle and an embarrassment to the club

Royal Rother
floyd__streete No doubt you're all planning to give Drink-drive Dave a generous ovation on Saturday, deservedly so for his performances for us. Me - in typical contrary fashion - I will be giving him some abuse for being a billy-big-b*llocks do-you-know-who-I-am merchant who sums up a lot of what is precious and self-important about modern footballers 8)

An intelligent bloke who is not afraid to be different from the rest of them and quite happy to speak his mind... no matter whether it makes him look like a total prat.

He should be your hero.

I LOL'd at that!

Big fan of Kitson, one of the best footballers I've ever seen play live, and I include having seen two different Utd teams in that.

Awesome player for us in his proper time here.

A Reading great...54 goals in 111 starts - a bit of a strange character but what a player. He carried us during Coppell's early days and then was key to getting us promoted. I'll be cheering him before the game.

The only negative for him here was his drink driving charge. His actions causing and around that were a huge disappointmenf for me in the man. But otherwise I don't think I could name a player who was more intelligently outspoken and absolute quality on the pitch...

I get the feeling if McAnuff courted the media more he could come close. He strikes me as a well grounded (in comparison to most), intelligent and gifted footballer.

Agreed - I was due to do an interveiew with him at Hogwood the day it all broke, with aguy who'd travelled down from Sunderland for it. I'd arranged it with a magazine on the basis that he was different to other footballers, and when this came out it was such a massive disappointment.

Yeah, except he'd built himself up in the media as something special and different - so when the crash came it was a bit harder. There was an article in the Sunday Times that January that laid the "specialness" on with a trowel. He said something like "not having a fast car like all the others" - which immediately came back to bite him.

He definitely got wrapped up in his own hype and the whole Premier League promotion thing. Going so far, so quickly was just a step too far for him to deal with sensibly I think. Especially being held up as something different and special when he obviously didn't fit in with many of his fellow players because he was smarter and more life experienced than them.

Being really clever and erudite for a footballer doesn't make you an infallible genius. I think he forgot that.

The real problem was him and Lita - if you were to set out to find two people with diametrically opposed personalities it'd be those two.

Oh cut the crap, some jobsworth probably hadn't been getting any and picked on him, he had no previous history of doing anything untoward and has done nothing since. It's mongs like you who believe everything those in power in society do without question who are the reason this country is in decline.
