Greatest foreign grounds?

La Casa Blanca in Quito, Ecuador, home to Liga de Quito who recently have won the Recopa Sudamericana in 2009 and lost 1-0 to Manchester United a few years ago in the World Club Championship final. It's a lot of fun especially when full for the big games. Saw De la Cruz playing there last year marshaling the defence to another South American Cup win.

I used to love the old Cardiff Arms Park, and the Millennium stadium is quite fantastic. However when I went Valencia I feel in love with the Mestalla (and the beautiful young couple with a tiny sleeping baby who were watching the game from the seats in front of us)

Mestalla is nice - however I was right up in the gods when I went last november and from the outside it looks like a glorified car-park

yeah it looks like an old car park - but from the inside it's got a lovely feel.

I used to live there and went twice in a very good season for Athletic. 1997/1998 - they finished second in the league. The atmosphere was great but I was having an ongoing battle with some (half) friends at the time and I have to admit I was not fond of the club because of that and was hoping they wouldn't win. They did.

Went to Vasco de Gama vs Botafogo two weeks ago.

Stadium pretty good, but the noise was incredible.

When Vasco scored the whole stadium shook.

I've been to a few foreign grounds, and I think my favourite has to be the Rheinenergie Stadium in Cologne.





Nothing fancy about it, but it just feels like a big proper ground.

There are other grounds that are perhaps more visually stunning, but it just ticked all the boxes. Mind you, it did help that they won the Bundesliga 2 title then day I went.

Thats got to be one of the most idiotic attempts at trolling i've seen for quite a while, that's on a par with those attempting to tarnish the Hillsborough tragedy. Of course I don't expect many to condemn that type of post as there is a lot of anti-rangers feeling on general football.

Effectively taking the piss out of the Ibrox disaster or any footballing disaster where people have lost their lives shows a lot about your character, whether you meant it as a windup or not.

Anyway, goal achieved so let's put this thread back on topic. I'm a real sucker for the classic olympic-style stadium, the type that Britain just doesn't seem to have. I was fortunate enough to visit the Rheinstadion in Düsseldorf while it was still open. Sadly, Fortuna were attracting crowds of about 6.000 at that point, so the derby against Köln had quite an eerie feel. Haven't got pictures from the exact match but it resembled this

It didn't work like a charm at all, I ousted it and put it down as fishing upon glancing across it first time. Fishing is witty trolling of someone and drawing a negative reaction usually in which they make themselves look stupid, you ended up torlling yourself by mocking a disaster in which a large amount of people lost their lives. Real fisherman don't focus on those types of areas. You have a lot to learn.
