Who are Elwood and Mansett? You've taken all that time to type all that but you don't have the respect to write their names correctly.

Man of the Match too.

And I see Long and Harte made the Football League Team of the Week Mar 7th and Ingi the week after.

Snowball 10 HARTE Reading FC

League goals only. Totals can include goals scored for other teams in the same division.

Harte scored 8 for Reading, 2 for Carlisle....which division do they play in again?

Harte is a left back, how many of them are there in the goals list?

MmmMonsterMunch I will openly admit I have slated Long in the past & am delighted to be proved wrong as he is a different class this year.

Do people not agree that this season has seen the best individual performance from a Reading player...specifically a striker for many a year?

Long right now gives Doyle at his peak a run for his money IMO.

I am struggling to rememeber a season where an individual's contribution has been so great.

Well done Shane.

I think that's the clincher for me. No Doyle, Kitson, Shorey, Little, Convey at his best etc etc etc

22 goals (with another 8 games to go) is easily the best contribution of the last ten years
and is probably up there with the best in the last few decades. (Not total number, perhaps
but in terms of goals at a good level in a makeshift team put together on a low budget)

Incidentally, what are the best totals for RFC players since WW2 (and in what league?)

Caskey or Morley 20 goal plus seasons... Kitson's first big scoring season maybe?

I'm not sure I can remember a Reading team that would have been regarded otherwise.

To Be Regularly Updated

OFFICIAL CLUB STATS

OS: Shane is now our second highest scorer in terms of goals scored in the second tier of English football.

Snowball: Shane has a better strike rate when starting than Kitson!!

83 Championship Starts 44 Goals (SR 1.88) KITSON
70 Championship Starts 38 Goals (SR 1.84) LONG
80 Championship Starts 36 Goals (SR 2.22) DOYLE

The above EXCLUDE goals scored as a sub, so clearly Long scores significantly more than Doyle when starting,
and he has a reasonable chance of passing Kitson's total by the end of this season.

Remember this is the man who is "useless" when starting,
and "will NEVER, EVER score 20 goals at Championship Level "(Copyright Ian Royal)

I'm enjoying the way I'm being singled out as part of some sort of snowball vendetta.

Just to share the lols around my fellow "got it wrong in the long-runers":

Hugo Boss The bloke is f*cking useless. A basic, average striker should be knocking in a goal every 3 games at the least yet our "main" striker has one. From the penalty spot.

Royal with Cheese He's like a poor man's Emile Hesky.

Harpers So Solid Crew Many years ago Schards posted that he was and would remain woeful, I may not have seen him live that much, but never has he looked any real use to me either, time to move on Shane, sorry as you are a nice guy.

Floyd_Streete Long has started just about every game this season and has managed to score one measly bloody penalty. You'd think even the most incompetent striker would have managed to divert the ball into the net at least once from open play this season off his arse or something. Long's performance at Bristol was typical; hard work, zero quality on the ball and an abject failure to get any shots away. Not good enough...
He doesn't have the intelligence to get into goalscoring positions, and frankly if he didn't 'work hard' (literally the bare minimum I'd expect from any professional footballer) he wouldn't have anything to his game whatsoever.

Hoop Blah We don't have anyone worse either, their all very average Championship players who might have the odd good game but won't do enough over a sustained period to carry the burden of being our first choice strike force.

Plymouth_Royal All of our strikers are shite. Long in particular.

Royalee Piss off Long and take Madejski, McDermott and Church's shit finishing with you.

Jeffers217 He's useless- plain and simple.

Royal Lady Shane isn't a good player imo. He's had 4 years to prove himself and he hasn't.

Baines Nice lad. Completely out of his depth.

Sorry chaps and chapess, but if I'm going down I'm taking you lot with me.

1 The CLUB OS, gave the Championship starts/goals when starting.

2 It's a fair comparison, especially as all Doyle's goals were when he started

3 Once sub appearances and goals as a sub are included the comparisons get foggy.

Starts - Goals when starting is a decent comparison. And fair.
