there are so many managers that clearly just give lip service, thankfully Brian is not one of these.

You can tell that he genuinely wants the best for the players, the club and the fans and is not just focusing on building his own reputation.

Surely it does not matter one bit how he 'interviews' As long as he keeps doing what he is doingwell and manages the team in the appropriate manner............ who gives one? Just for the record I think he always comes across decent, matter of fact and down to earth.

Mr Angry
Especially after the Everton game.

Brian's interview style is excellent; no histrionics, no "wannabe" meejay personality, no over the top BS if we win, no paraquat & razor blades if we lose, no raving and ranting about a throw in that didn't go our way 3 minutes before the opponents scored costing us the game (copyright any ex Man Utd player who is now a Manager), no whining about "the Board aren't letting me buy the 10 players that I need" guff (copyright Billy Davies).....I think he handles the media very well, and as has been said, a VERY dry sense of humour (which appears to be over the heads of many interviewing him and many on this board!)

I actually feel PROUD that, as a club, we have such a level headed and sensible guy as our Manager.

In the meantime, check out Brendan "I can communicate and I was technically gifted" Rodgers recent interview in the Mail:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footba ... otion.html

Not once does he actually give his current team team or players any credit. But plenty of name dropping - my mates Mourinho, McLeish, McLaren, etc.

The man's an egomaniac who makes Sir John seem a shrinking violet.

In Brendan land, there may be no "i" in team, but he's realised there's certainly a "me".

I had a good laugh along with Brian in that Clem interview, he obviously thought the stat was shit and more than a bit irrelevant.

Is there a rounded and polished manager who has media skills. Doubt it. I like his grounded approach when i've seen an interview. On one though he clearly didn't want to be there and was impatient and naval gazed. Fair play. Honesty is the best way to see through the b/s.

Absolutely! That Clemetts guy is a bloody clown. I can't stand the persona he has contrived for himself, where he attempts to to be matey with the players/managers and have some 'banter'. (Copyright - Keys/Gray).

I remember when he interviewed Eddie Howe, just after Howe had been appointed Bournemouth manager. Clemetts started with "Ooh, look at you all dressed up in a suit now you're boss." It was reminiscent of the scene in Goodfellas when the old mafiosi shouts patronisingly across the bar "Hey - look it's little Tommy, all done up and doing the town."

Unfortunately, unlike Goodfellas, the interview didn't end with Howe kicking Clemetts to death.

Nothing to see here, folks...move along please.

(In other words, interview questions were fine; responses and the manner they were delivered were even finer.)

Dealing with Clem must be a challenge for managers. They want the publicity, but they don't want to be made to look a Charlie by stooping to his level, as some of them have done. So I think Brian's slightly distant way of humouring him was just right.

I actually find this man's potted histories of clubs interesting, but his presentational style--"The pitch was laid on an old oilseed rape field" (rapes puppy)--leaves me cold.

Was fairly impressed by that article actually. He seems to have got some perspective and learnt some humility. Or just got better at the bullshit.

I can tell you're all a teeny bit worried like I am. I hope it's not a problem as well. I hope his deadpan minimalist approach works for him. But he will meet some wry characters who need their microphones stuck up their arses.

I noticed that the OS yesterday and today ran interviews with both former managers and the Chairman focused on a very positive message about Brian. Why all the focus on Brian as a manager? Season Tickets? New Contract? Supporter confidence going into the playoffs? There must be some PR angle.
