PFA Championship Team of the season....

by urzmikep » 18 Apr 2011 01:32

PFA Championship Team of the Season:

Kenny (QPR), Naughton (Leicester), Harte (Reading), Williams (Swansea), Morgan (Nottm Forest), Taarabt (QPR), Sinclair (Swansea), King (Leicester), Hoolahan (Norwich), Graham (Watford), Holt (Norwich).

Who voted for this team and when did the voting close???
Shane Long doesn't even make into the team even though he clearly is the best striker in the champsionship by a "long" way!!
The only saving grace was Harte managing to get a place in the team.

All I can say is...........it's a disgrace!!

Means he hasn't been picked up as one of the best. Two strikers in the shop window ahead of him. Not bothered.

Isn't it voted for some time in January? Would explain Long not getting in. Little surprised no Cardiff players in there.

Up front )league goals) they have a 23-goal man and a 20-goal man who is also club captain.

Not hard to imagine, a 21-goal man dipping out.

Harte and Wollahan are suprise selection for me.

I wouldhave have thought Long or Boothroyd would pipped Graham.

Thinking about it, I would love to think that all the other players in the Division have boycotted voting for Cardiff & Pompey players due to the financial shenanigans of those 2 clubs, but somehow i doubt it!!!

To be honest it's hard to question many in the team.

Could probably make a 2nd XI of people that have had a good season but I doubt there's much arguement for those in surely?

Obviously from Reading's point of view both Kebe and especially Long would have a case but Grhahm has scored 20 goals for a mid table Watford side, he's been consistant all season and so has Holt, he's been Norwich's talisman like Long has to Reading.

Excellent for Harte, clearly a very good footballer. When i've seen him he's been a bit suspect defensively especially his positional sense but past the half way line and any dead ball the guy is literally World Class.

A 'B' team could be something like

Ruddy (Norwich), Tate (Swansea), M Taylor (Watford), Hill (QPR), Taylor (Swansea), Kebe (Reading), Pratley (Swansea), Mcgugan (Forest), Snodgrass (Leeds), Long (Reading), Bothroyd (Cardiff)

I can fully understand Holt and Graham over Long. Holt is just ridiculously good and Graham scores shitloads of goals in a shit team. Long is good, but I feel that these two deserve their credit.

The voting for all this takes place ridiculously early hence some quite random selections. The voting as far as I'm aware is made by the professional footballers themselves through their membership of the PFA. How many actually bother to vote is a different question.

Well deserved. Congratulations Ian Harte, you've been brilliant for us!

Surprised Long didn't make the team though, but then he did have a quiet first 1/2 of the season, and I believe this vote is taken back in Feb?

Edit: Discussed.

Actim -- PFA Team

by Snowball » 18 Apr 2011 11:31

The Actim is current. The PFA Team is 6 weeks old.

Still a strong correspondence

12 Kenny (QPR), Actim Top Keeper

Top keeper, Top striker and fourth striker, 2-4-5-7 midfielders, 2-6-8-16th defenders,
the latter only played 3/4 of games and his Actim points per game would put him at 10-11th
player, second-placed defender

01 Graham (Watford), Actim Top Striker
09 Holt (Norwich). Actim 4th Striker

04 Taarabt (QPR), Second Actim Midfielder
07 Hoolahan (Norwich), 5th Actim Midielder
11 Sinclair (Swansea), 4th Actim Midfielder
14 King (Leicester), 7th Actim Midfielder

18 Harte (Reading), Second Actim Defender
31 Morgan (Nottm Forest), Sixth Actim Defender
37 Williams (Swansea), Eighth Actim Defender
52 Naughton (Leicester), 16th Actim Defender (Only 30/41 games played)

That would be tricky as we'd need to think who works with whom.

Kenny

RB? Taylor - Martin - Harte (pushed by Clint Hill)

Gradel - Howson - Hoolihan

Taraabt

Graham - Long
