brendywendy LOL at snowball getting upset because shane didnt win MOTM

get over it SB, you cant win every week

Hey I'm not upset. I think Kebe is brilliant, remember?

Three players I championed. Long, Kebe, Harte and all three are in the Actim Top 25
They have scored 42 goals this season (excluding international goals) and had 18 assists between them.

But I still think it was close between Shane and Jimmy for MotM.

ZacNaloen So it couldn't have been a good cross and the defender got a foot in?

It was an OK ball, but one that always looked like getting cut out (god forbid cocked up might've been an exageration on my part).

A great cross would've been more difficult to defend and take then defender out of the game and presented Long with a tap in. He either needed to play it with a lot more pace to beat the defender or to chip it to the far post where Long would've been unmarked as I don't think the defender could've covered that.

It was a hell of a run but that he didn't find a Reading player with the final ball was just so typical Kebe. Conversley, McAnuff had a mazy run in the second half (not the same extent as Kebe's) but found his man in the box who then cocked it up. Which was the better ball? McAnuffs. Which created a goal? Kebe's.

Brendy, I totally agree it's not just his end product (or sometimes lack of it) that is the big deal with Kebe. His pace and general threat to do something puts the frightners on the opposition defence and is our main method of attack. The same thing used to happen with Sidwell. He didn't always score from his chances but the opposition had to be aware of his late runs and that made space for others.

Snowball
leicsRoyal 91 yards in 11 seconds with the ball at his feet.

Left one man trailing in his wake, turned inside another and put him on his arse.

Got the cross in that resulted in a goal.

I'm reasonably happy with that!

Agreed, great run, and it became a goal, thanks to a defender.

What would we be saying if the defender's toe-poke had evaded Hunt and there was no goal from the run?

So on that basis I assume you thought our second goal was poor

Nobody appears to have mentioned the fantastic ball played by Long to set Kebe up, with Manset also behind him, which Kebe ballooned into the North Stand; great skill with the ball played with the outside of the right foot so it curls away from the keeper.

Shame Kebe missed that one, cos it would have been a special goal.

I'd say he made a great run and put the ball in the dangerous area where, unfortunately, we didn't have a man to capitalise. Similar to one very good cross I put in during the second half where unfortunately nobody was there. It's about law of averages. Make enough runs and put the ball in there enough and we should get some goals eventually.

The run was great, the cross wasn't, then we got lucky.

This board never fails to make me roll my eyes and smash my head into my desk.

Why on earth are we arguing about or even suggesting that Jimmy Kebe was something other than superb? He's just totally unplayable on days like that, yet apparently we're finding something to moan about after he's sprinted the length of the pitch, rinsed a couple of players and crossed for a goal?

You bunch of utter helmets.

I don't think anyone's suggested Kebe didn't have a good game to be fair.

So why dissect the hell out of what was one of - if not his best performance this season. Scored against Preston, Forest and now Leicester. 3 out of 4. The mans timing is impeccable in relation to hitting form.

Personally I wasn't dissecting the hell out of it, I was just saying that even though it was a good performance by him the mistakes he made summed up why he was the enigma he is and why he's playing for us and not someone like Arsenal or another Premier League team. If people want to pick holes in those comments I'll happily back up my opinion.

He missed a couple of sitters and failed with a few crosses. He took a few wrong decisions. Every player does whatever the level, but for all his entertaining running and pace he makes more of those mistakes on a regular basis than players like Nani, Bale or the Etheringtons and Richardsons of this world who are carving out careers at a higher level.

And he is being nurtured and developed. He's an ongoing prospect either for this club or for others who have shown an interest.

I think Snowball is referring to the two or three good chances that Kebe missed on Saturday. Can't fault the rest of his game though.

Yeah but he has always had the inconsistency. Both frustrating and endearing.

I'll be more than happy if he has 4 more shockers like he did on Saturday!

The reason that we have so much to debate about is due to the fact he was involved in nearly everything, that's the Kebe I want to see! Couldn't care less if he baloons a couple over the bar or mis places a cross or 2. Not only will he make and score his fair share of goals, other teams will be scared stiff of meeting him in that type of mood.

If the argument is he's not as good as Nani or Bale then yeah, I think we can all agree with that.

I guess the main give away is that he plays for Reading in Tier 2 and not in the latter stages of the Champions League.
