2 world wars, 1 world cup Good points, well put.

Although I didn't boo it's not *totally* unreasonable when you just watch your team get demolished at home after a 2-0 lead by the bottom of the table team FFS.

Especially when we know they're capable and proved this with two well worked goals but then seemed to just not bother as opposed to trying hard but jut not being good enough.

It can serve as an importnat message to the team that they could and should have done better, so I certainly won't look down on anyone who did even if my preference would be not to, after such a good run.

Thanks...

And your are absolutely right, they have been playing great football for an extended period of time. Doing all the little things, and big ones like going up for headers and challenging people, right. And I can see how some would be urging us to cut them some slack. I understand losing a game to a better team on any given day, that happens. But being up 2-0 against a struggling team then "switching off" assuming they had 3 points in the books is no way to play the game. Maximum effort for the full 90+ minutes isn't an option...it is a requirement. On that point I will give no quarter.

I am really looking forward to the next game. I am 99.9% sure not playing the game properly will not be a problem on Saturday...win, lose or draw. And of course hopefully a win. :)

blueroyals I booed because we played sh*t and the players didn't seem to care..

You were watching a different game from me then - I think the players cared a lot. Didn't you see McAnuff screaming in frustration when they scored and Longy kicking the kit bag in frustration when he had to come off with his head injury - they looked very frustrated. So much so that they lost all shape in the second half and resorted to the long ball tactic. I didn't boo, but I came home in a very bad mood.

I can only think it was the glory hunting, fair weather mugs that were booing. 25 pounds of there money - they expected a show and went home unhappy.

Don't bother coming back.

It must have been the 4,000 extra fans who paid their annual visit to the Mad Stad.

I didn't hear any booing in Y22. It was a poor display and a general 'bad day at the office'. But that doesn't excuse anyone booing the team BMc puts out.

IMO any booing would be justified, the team performance was unacceptable and the attitude I felt throughout was that the players felt they just had to turn up.

Just because we've been on a good run and got ourselves involved in the play offs it isn't an excuse to accept crap when it turns up and there's no other way for fans to let players/management know instantly.

What is wrong is when there is booing and discontent towards players being expressed DURING a game....

Ian Royal Some football fans acting like spoilt children shocker.

Because that's exactly what loads of them are. Youngsters who've never seen it really tough for us.

Edited for you. It's sad that some Reading fans boo after they've been spoiled for a couple of months, but it would happen at any other club in the country.

Optimist Its still 8 wins and a draw from the last 10. If the draw and defeat had been within the wins (say, 4th and 7th games for e.g) everyone would be getting soooooo excited about our form. We're 1 single point off the playoffs with games against two teams with little or nothing to play for, imo thats amazing considering where we were. Lets just get Kebe back, put things into perspective and roll on to Coventry. URZZZZZZZZ!

The big difference is that we could now be going into the play-offs following 1 or 2 points from our final 4 games. That would be a slump at entirely the wrong time.

Either that, or yesterday is a massive wake up call which we'll learn from and take into the play-offs. The next 2 games are big in this sense.

**Tries his best to inject a bit of importance and excitement into 2 meaningless end of season fixtures **

I, for one, welcome the intervention of the booers.

It's all too easy these days simply to voice one's complaint on Twitter or on HNA?, so praise be to those who take the time and effort to go to the ground and boo, confront our underperforming so-called stars in nightclubs and construct crude effigies of the Chairman.

Without this kind of proactive involvement, how can we, the fans, expect the club to move forward?

I didn't boo yesterday and I never boo - BUT it was a terrible performance and I felt more upset that the players let down Armstrong tbh - they should have been so up for that match yesterday - when he led them out and the whole stadium clapped and gave him a standing ovation, I had tears in my eyes. But for the grace of God, any one of them out there yesterday afternoon could have been in Armstrong's position - you'd think they'd have been so spurred on, knowing he'd still love to play and him not being able to anymore - that they would have run rings round Utd. I can take a defeat if we've battled and given our all, but not in the way we threw it away yesterday. However, I'd rather we had our blip yesterday than in the play-offs, particularly if it's against Swansea - I am DESPERATE for us to beat him and knock his ego sideways.

Booing teams off when they lose is one of those dreadful modern football things led by those who have jumped on the bandwagon of success.

A lot of the new sky tv era football supporters do need a reality check.

Libertine Maybe it is just me. Or maybe it is the sporting culture I've grown up in but when a team/player doesn't play the game the way it should be played, even a great team/player, they deserve to be booed and usually are. It has nothing to do with booing just because a team lost a game. All teams lose games and in no way deserve to be booed based solely on that fact. For example the Boston Red Sox of MLB have been booed off the field many times, including in their championship seasons, when they didn't play the game the way it should be played. The booing doesn't mean we hate the team or think they are shite, just that we didn't approve of the way they played that particular game which we spent hard earned money to attend. And of course we want our favorite team to come out next game and make it right by winning 10-0. Maybe it is different over there and it gets chalked up to just being "one of those days", but I don't think booing or whistling a team off the pitch is out of bounds, if deserved, like, imho, today's game. These players are paid a great deal of money to play a child's game. More money than most of us will see in a decade, if not a lifetime for the bigger stars. They need to have thick skin, accept why they were booed and redouble their efforts to make sure it doesn't happen again, or at least for a very long time.

For what it is worth...

its clearly not just you. i doubt id have been able to hear it if it were.

imo booing for one bad game is moronic. booing(post match only) may be ok towards the end of a season where we look like relegation candidates, maybe. but not this season, and not that game.

for people to question the players effort, or will to win, or whether they cared at all is also moronic.

but then we are suppoprted by a lot of morons, so its to be expected now.

Yawn  Back in the good old days, the slow hand clap was often heard at Elm Park. Don't believe me? Read David Down Syndrome's history of the club. That said, what is witnessed is the demand for instant gratification and satisfaction. It is the world that we live in.
