Championship relegation scrap:

17 Coventry City 33 40
18 Derby County 33 39
19 Doncaster Rovers 33 39
20 Middlesbrough 32 36
21 Crystal Palace 34 35
______________________
22 Scunthorpe United 32 31
23 Sheffield United 34 29
24 Preston North End 33 24

I'd love Derby or Boro to drop, but with Sheffield United looking doomed I can't be too greedy.

League 1 relegation scrap:

17 Notts County 28 38
18 Tranmere Rovers 31 37
19 Yeovil Town 31 36
20 Swindon Town 33 31 8)
______________________
21 Walsall 33 31
22 Bristol Rovers 32 30
23 Dagenham & Redbridge 30 29
24 Plymouth Argyle 33 26 8)

Plymouth and Swindon, you tease!

Really hope to see Bournemouth get promoted to the Championship this season.

Do Bournemouth still dislike us? The last time I remember them playing was when Caskey brought us back to 3-3 and they hated us.

It was Fozzy wasn't it? *EDIT: Yep http://www.soccerbase.com/teams/team.sd?team_id=359#

They sang that song "We've got Jermain Defoe, he scored ten in a row" because of that streak. Is that a record?

EDIT2 - Soccerbase is shit now. That link doesn't work, but it was the last game of the 2000/01 season and you can click on the 'i' for the full match deets.

It was the game where the helicopters delivered the match ball. We were already in the playoffs, and if Bournemouth had beaten us and Wigan failed to win we would have been playing them in the PO semi the next week. Caskey came on and immediately scored a free kick. Have to admit I'd always thought that it was the goal that levelled it up, but the match report on this very site confirms it was Fozzy late on.

The other memorable thing that happened was the East Stand starting a chant of '1-0 to the Wigan' while Bournemouth were apparently cruising to victory, which silenced their fans for a while. Wigan's game actually ended in a 0-0 draw :)

Their hatred or dislike of us goes back to at least the 90s. IIRC, one of their top players had just come back from injury only to be crocked by one of ours. Could be wrong though.

And St Albans went down from the Blue Square South. A 10 point deduction didn't help. They had to win a Ebbsfleet to stay up, and were only a narrow 5 goals away from that feat, going down 0-4.

I thought we were singing about it being 2-0 shortly after, and their heads seemed to drop. I think that was a big factor is us coming back to draw. Their fans must have heard it was 0-0 in injury time, as they suddenly went mental, urging their team on.

With the current gap between them and safety, we could well send them down.

Loving the basement battLOLe

Stockport are all but down, but Barnet are still fighting. When was the last time Northampton were this close to relegation to the conference? Was it in the re-election days?

19   Burton Albion    49pts
20   Hereford         48pts
21   Lincoln City     47pts
22   Northampton      46pts

PNE and Scunny relegated to League 1 today. (Scunny not confirmed but -17 GD).

Swindon relegated to the basement division today. 8)

Well done to Bury promoted back to L1. Losing Alan Knill could have thrown a spanner in the works but they secured promotion with two games to go.

Premier League

Title: United, Chelsea or Arsenal can still win it, but United play both their rivals and could conceivably win the title at home to Chelsea on Sun 8th May.
CL: The three above have secured CL places. City, Spurs and Liverpool can still finish 4th, the latter only if City fail to get 6 points from their last 5 games. City can secure their CL place on Tues 10th May, against Spurs at Eastlands.
Europa: Mathematically the above plus Everton and Bolton can still finish 5th, but if Spurs lose to City, the Europa League place may be decided when Spurs visit Anfield, but Spurs favourites.
Relegation: A gazillion permutations, but should be three from Blackburn, Blackpool, West Ham, Wolves and Wigan. I think WBA and Fulham owing to teams below them playing each other. Blackpool have a devilish run-in.

Championship

Promotion: QPR and either Norwich, Cardiff or Swansea
Playoffs: Above have secured a playoff place plus two of Reading, Forest, Millwall, Burnley, Leeds, Hull or Leicester
Relegation: Preston, plus two from Sheff Utd, Scunthorpe, Doncaster and Palace, the first two needing miracles of goal difference even if they win both games.

League One

Promotion: Brighton, and either Southampton or Huddersfield, who have secured playoff places at worst.
Playoffs: As above, plus Peterborough and two of MK Dons, Bournemouth, Orient and Rochdale, Exeter need to find a massive GD swing.
Relegation: Swindon, and three of Plymouth (who realistically need to win both games), Bristol Rovers, Dagenham & Redbridge and Notts County.

League Two

Promotion: Chesterfield, Bury, and either Wycombe or Shrewbury.
Playoffs: Wycombe or Shrewbury plus three from Accrington Stanley, Stevenage, Gillingham and Torquay; Rotherham and Port Vale mathematically still in the hunt.
Relegation: Stockport are down if Northampton get a point. No-one from Morecambe in 15th down is mathematically safe from relegation.
