weybridgewanderer we can't beat the teams above us (haven't yet beaten a top 6 team)

That doesn't mean we are also beating the teams below us often enough far too many draws

I know you don't say things WILL happen but as per your other thread, you ARE optimistic (nothing like offering a hedged point of view, you can't be wrong)

So, let's see. We haven't beaten a top six team. OK. That's 9 games D5 L4 8-13

So in the other 20 Games? W10 D7 L3 35-18 = 37 Points, a smidgeon short of very good indeed!

Looks OK to me. We have 14 such games to come, worth 26 points, taking us to 68 plus we have Norwich, Leeds, Forest

That ought to put us on 70 points. We need just one extra win to be on 73 and in with a good shout of the POs

So you think we will make the plays ( i appreciate you are not saying we actually will but you think we will)

I don't think we will make the play offs ( I am not saying we actually will not, just that I think we will not)

You consider yourself optimistic, I consider myself realistic

lets see

We were looking (hoping) for 30 points from the last 15 games to get to 73 points.

We would have scraped home, one point ahead of Leeds.

But we got 34 points from 15 games.

01 15 10 4 1 32-17 +15 34 2.27 ppg Reading

06 15 08 1 6 27-19 +08 25 1.67 ppg Bristol City (we beat them 4-1 in there, I think)

Another way to look at the last 15 games is

We gained 15 points on Forest
We gained 09 points on Cardiff
We gained 07 points on Swansea

10 15 06 3 6 18-23 -05 21 1.40 ppg Burnley (we beat them 2-1 in that run)

Nope:

4-1 v Brizzol City was 26/12/10 - which was game 22 of the season.
2-1 v Burnley was 03/01/11 - which was game 25 of the season

Snowball We had little right to expect anything from Cardiff, and a home draw v QPR was likely.

What matters is the block of games, and from the 7 games, we needed 11 points.

We got 7.

That hasn't changed. It's just got harder. Now we need ten points from 5 games

We got 6.

A 2-2 Cardiff
H 0-1 QPR

A Norwich
A Sheffield
H Watford
H Millwall
A Palace

So now we HAVE to win those two home games (and hurt two rivals),

We only won one.

we have to win at Sheffield or Palace (or maybe both).

We won at neither

That would be 13 points from 7 games. If we could do that and get something at Norwich, we'd be on 2+ ppg for this block of games.

It wasn't, we couldn't, we didn't, and we weren't.

I believe if we can avoid defeat at Norwich, we'll get at least 10 points from those 5 games, 11 from 7. Maybe more.

We couldn't, we didn't, we didn't, and we certainly didn't.

Absolutely anybody can write this sort of hypothetical claptrap, it's pointless.

The Caveat King

IF we win then we'll have three more points UNLESS it's a draw in which case we'll have one ALTHOUGH we MIGHT lose in which case we'll have none.

I agree. You're not bad at it, carry on.

Tell me, does a general in a war change his strategy and tactics as circumstances change?

Does the Bank of England or the Government change its forecasts as it gets more information?

If we signed Tevez, Messi, Ronald, Terry, Ferdinand and Vidic in a transfer window,
might we not upgrade our forecasts?

Did RFC circumstances not change dramatically when L-Wood arrived and got fitter? Did we not discover
that we were a much more solid outfit?

Did we not unearth a potent partnership of Long & Hunt where both were getting goals and assists?

Potential changes, forecasts change.

Now tell me, in the last fifteen games, how firm were my forecasts?

If the posters on this list were normal people I wouldn't need to constantly say

"I'm NOT saying this will happen"

or

"I'm NOT predicting X Y Z"

But the mongs, of which there are too many, take statements of possibility like,

"If we can avoid defeat at Norwich, we will have a great chance"

and turn that into. "Snowball says, if we avoid defeat at Norwich we'll win the league."

Except what you have proved in your smug and self important posts on this and other threads (including amazingly, the post ABOVE THIS ONE) is that when something you say MAY happen, happens, you then boast that you predicted that it WOULD happen.

Therefore, to use your word, who is the mong then??

Mr A, am I correct in thinking that one failed prediction of Snowball's was his statement that he WOULD meet you outside the Madstad to settle your beef?

I have never said that.

Self-important, moi?

My only claim to fame is that I tried to join the RAF Regiment, aged 15
to be a dog handler and was told I was too intelligent and had to aim higher...
