David Norris is reportedly leaving Ipswich. He looked good this season and would be a good addition to the squad if we need a midfielder (Gunnarsson, Howard and Leigertwood potentially not with us next season).

Sarah Star
loyalroyalsam Quinn from sheffield utd on a freeeee

I like him. Be nice to have another ginger back in the fold. And he's Irish so he'll fit right in.

Agreed about Quinn. Would be a good signing.

Not a bad player but likely to be over-priced

Ramon Nunez from Scunny? had a gd game against us at their place and scored a nice goal at the weekend, could be the spark we are missing in the midfield. Should be cheap seeing as Scunny are down?

Except for the fact he plays for Leeds and they've just extended his contract

Seen a lot of players released from championship clubs this week.
Should we sign any of them?
Quite like Hugo Colace personally....

Signing for Norwich, done deal. We had the opportunity to sign him in the summer, but couldn't afford him then.

If that's the standard of Norwich signings they'll need a great bi slice of luck to get anywhere near staying up - but hey, at least they've got the chance.

We missed a big opportunity not signing Ward from Sheffield Utd. He signed for Derby on a free, and he was their best player, and would of been a direct replacement for Long. He always makes a handful of himself, and is a tidy player. Shame.

Pompey have released Michael Brown. Wouldn't mind him coming in on a free with Howard moving on.

Wantaway striker Emile Heskey has his sights set on a move to Reading FC. England international Heskey looks set to depart from Villa Park as the American owners look to invest over the summer with a massive warchest and see Heskey as surplus. Going the other way, if a deal is reached, is current joint runner up of top goal scorer in the Championship, Shane Long. Long, born in Tipperary, had a promising career in hurling but decided to take up football and play for the Irish giants Cork City with long time friend and ex teammate Kevin Doyle. Deal is currently in the closing stages and will be announced sometime this week, if both players agree to terms.

EPR?

Cheers Red,
Please no to Heskey... really never liked him as a player. Dont even know if he would offer too many goals at any level. Probably high wages too.

Not a great goalscorer, but he can be a handful and certainly at this level, I'd be happy with this.

Would we really be negotiating a deal before the POs are settled?

Yes of course.

Teams in the play-offs have to plan for both scenarios; so on one hand we'll be preparing a list of players we would be interested in for the Premier League, and on the other hand we'd have a list of players suitable for another Championship campaign.

Regarding Long I doubt negotiations are at an advanced stage but there will almost certainly have been contact from some interested parties trying to gage what we feel he's worth, and presenting offers to us to get us thinking, depending on what happens in the coming week/weeks.

Danny Webber's been released from Pompey, maybe a decent option if we lose Long?

If Peterborough don't come up we must be in the hunt for CMS

I know, WCBAP and TFCBAP but surely he'll be cheaper than Shlong
