mr_number Just had the call as well.... had to move a few blocks and a slightly lower row.
I asked how many people it had happened to, and he said he wasn't sure, but it was more than they would have liked. I'm guessing it was quite a lot if they've been making calls all day.
It's a bummer to have to move, but at least they've still sorted out roughly similar tickets. Also, he confirmed that if anything goes wrong, you can get the tickets reprinted at Wembley.

Are all these calls for people who managed to get their booking done online?

"All" is a very big word, but that is my impression.
My failed booking was on-line, and the fix was by phone.
(All the earlier complaints were about the on-line system crashing etc.)

Yeah, mine was online too. Said a similar thing about the system not taking payment, and the seats not being held.

I finally did mine by phone after crashing through the system too many times (never even got to the credit card bit online), so I assume mine is alright.

We were given a few hundred more yesterday.

Probably the only time Aldershot's Rec could be compared to Wembley.

I love the 'equal to those you selected originally'. I'll bet they are not anything other than the same monetary value and in a much less acceptable location (mine were in the front row top tier block 532). What a farce.

rabidbee My first game was the big cup match against City in 93, to be fair. Had never even heard of the club before then.

Mine was Preston away in 1992 and I'm not even from Reading :!:

Same email....my mail to the club reads as follows: (edited):-

Dear Reading FC

Last Thursday I logged onto the Ticket Zone web site to obtain tickets for the PlayOff Final. I had details for 18 season ticket holders who are friends or sit near me in the West Upper. I intended to purchase 31 tickets in total. Once I noted that bookings were for a maximum of 8 I realised that this would take some time.

I experienced many problems:-
first of all I selected seats then having entered my credit card details the site failed - I did not know if the transaction had completed for almost £500 and therefore whether I should reorder and risk purchasing twice.
the site was inaccessible for long periods
the site errored
the site took ticket selections then would not let me proceed
the site threw me back to the home page where there was no link
the site seems to have issues in managing its cache or internet history
I therefore had to call my friends and ask that they secure their own tickets
I finally believed that I had obtained tickets as follows (according to the confirmation mails that I am now told I cannot rely upon):

I have no idea to which transaction this email refers. I had hoped that as a large group of friends we would be reasonably close together.

I wrote to the The TicketZone commenting upon the possible problems with the website but just received a bland reply. I also rang Reading FC when these problems first materialised on Thursday asking to speak to a senior member of Customer Services and explained to the operator exactly what problems were occuring. I was promised a call back and am still awaiting that call. I have commented on http://www.royals.org along with many dissatisfied fans.

I have been a fan for 44 years and a season ticket holder for 16 years as have my immediate friends. I do not believe that the club has any idea of the problems that were encountered on Thursday and now I find that my ticket purchases are in doubt!

The service I have received is shockingly poor and I am incensed that this situation has arisen.

I will make this call tomorrow but then request that I am able to speak to someone at the club who actually has some authority.

Yours sincerely

I will open a book on the response!!!!

Completely wrong!

People should make a point of still complaining so that TicketZone get their useless *rses well and truly kicked and hopefully other supporters (no matter what the clubs) are spared this sort of inexcusable hassle in the future.

Reading FC were well aware of the major problems with TicketZone from first thing on Thursday morning, as numerous people reported issues on the live webchat on the OS. Rather than sitting there and just expressing sympathy and hope that things would work out OK, RFC should have insisted that a senior representative from TicketZone join the live webchat so that people could tell him/her direct exactly what they thought of their useless service and insist on some answers.

Authority to do what?

Doubt anyone at the club will have any authority as far as ticket zone are concerned.

What sort of outcome are you looking for? Just an opportunity to whinge or 31 seats next to John Madejski?

I got my E-Fail overnight from TZ. I'll be calling today to get my "equal" seats

To me equal means still in block 133 (or 134) and still around row 20.

I hope you're lucky. I got moved from 130 last night, told there wasn't anything behind the goal. Would also be interesting if they do manage to move you to 133, since that would suggest that they've known about the problem for some time and save seats for just this eventuality.

I think I will drop a letter to the club, mainly because they should report back to the FL/Wembley that this hasn't worked, and that Ticketzone shouldn't be used next year. I know it's not the club's fault, but it's not great that a company providing a poor service continues to make money from it.

I don't think we can point a finger at Reading FC on this. The ticketzone contract will be the Football Leagues doing, after all, they take all the money and then redistribute it at a later date. They probably have a 10year or so contract with TZ.
I feel for people who have been messed around, it's really not a nice situation, bit I feel if you're going to moan, moan to the head honcho....

From when I spoke to the nice person at TZ last week, they indicated that when a transaction failed in this manner they saved you seats there and then "which are comparable" - for me this was same block, but 20 rows forward.

I'm hoping that for the people still getting their fail mails (nice term btw!) this policy is still in place but i can't for the life of me see how that could be; I'm sure I read somewhere that tickets that fell out of this process (those that weren't claimed) would be made available yesterday. could be wrong though.

Worth a punt but I doubt it will make a difference - I suspect that TicketZone are used because they have the capability to interface with ticketing systems like RFC. Once you're in like that, it's really difficult (and expensive) to switch to another provider.

I wonder if this is why all the RFC tickets went to TZ on Monday, i.e. to cover the failed/duplicate bookings.

I still can't believe they run software that doesn't correctly reserve items that are in stock while you pay for them  on a high volume ticketing site
Surely that is core function 1.0?
