IDEAL

by ROKERITE » 30 May 2011 17:29

Every football fan gets things wrong now and then. However has there ever been a more monumental error of judgement than yours of Rodgers? It didn't take long to show just how mistaken you were, and in what a bitter-sweet way it's been demonstrated.

No.

Reading under Rodgers were going down. So what he does with Swansea 8 months (and a season) later doesn't really mean anything.

Made$ski was a clown to get rid of Brandon Rogers when he wasgiven no time to settle. Mcdermot very much inherited Rogers team and it shows at how class of a manager he is as both of his teams made it to the final!

As said above...reading were doing terribly under rodgers and looking like relegation candidates. This was due to Rodgers wanting to play a style of football that Reading didnt have the players to carry out. So therefore it didnt work out for Rodgers at Reading. It happens...just because it doesnt work out, doesnt mean a manager is a bad one. It didnt work out for Sam Allardyce at Newcastle a few years ago...does that mean he's a bad manager? Not at all. As shown by a very successful reign at Bolton and a decent one at Blackburn in which he was strangely fired from.

At swansea, they already had the players and structure in place to play the style of football that Rodgers was so insistent on playing and it has worked out for him.

However it was the correct decision for Reading to part company because we were looking like going down and once Mcdermott took over, he turned it around and within a season and a half, has us contending for promotion once again.

I dont think anyone at Reading should or will have any regrets about the change in management.

Good luck to Swansea and Rodgers (even if they should be playing in the Welsh league instead...or at least be governed by the English FA)

Totally agree - Swansea was the ideal club for Rodgers ..Martinez had already kicked off the style of football that Rodgers believed in, so Rodgers picked up the reigns , brought in a few players to complement the squad and hes delivered...fair play to him but as this post says, he did not have the players to really do this at Reading , nor did he get the sufficient budget to buy the players to do it ....
