When will your pain stop?

by TBM » 31 May 2011 10:38

For me, once i can go on the BBC website and not see videos/pictures/reports/quotes about the game i will then start to feel better and look forward to next season.

I was tempted to watch the football league show just to get it out of my system, but i cant bring myself to watch/read anything about the game.

I think you need to read about it, there isn't much anti-stuff, it's cathartic. For Reading fans, the pain never stops, it just dulls.

I thought it would be as soon as I deleted the game from the Sky planner...but no the Midweek Chronicle arrived with pictures of Long boo-ing his eyes out. Tomorrow, it'll be back to work and there'll be the post-mortem from the Man U/Liverpool and Forest fans. So it'll be the end of the week before it's out of the system, I reckon. Maybe.

It won't stop - it'll only get filed away in the dark recesses of the brain, alongside Wembley '95 and Cardiff '01.

You try not to think about it but only alcohol helped that for me yestersday, am gutted!

Yes in reality we certainly punched above our weight to get to the playoff final but you have to go on to win

Hope is a killer for football fans, certainly for me!

Just hope there are plenty of fans who can see past this and turn up for next season

But the other side of the coin is that having suffered and filed away the pain, when the good times do happen they are so much better because you remember the pain.

Doesn't the numbness dull the pain?

Mostly stopped. Will be reawakened by player sales (particularly if unexpected ones), but allevi8d by the fixture list coming out.

All part of the rich pattern of being a football supporter. For me, ending the season like that yesterday is far preferable to being consigned to 8th with two weeks to go.

The pain will be if we, again, sell big and don't reinvest more than a tiny proportion o the proceeds.

Yesterday hurt more than I had expected it to. I'm afraid that until we go up via the play-offs the memories of Bolton, Walsall, Wolves, Burnley and Swansea will always be in the background. I'm a bit tired of gallant and dignified defeats. I want an unadulterated play-off triumph. Its overdue.

Well, we all want it but it's not that simple. Which is why when, if, it happens it will feel all the more sweet. Just as promotion to the Premiership did and even promotion to the second tier under Brantfoot.

The sort of joy that comes with success, when it comes, for a club such as ours is of a like supporters of the likes of Chelsea and Man Utd can never experience.

Where have I said it was simple? I know its incredibly difficult but we handed it on a plate to Swansea yesterday despite having a very experienced back four. Kish's challenge on Dyer for the pen was ridiculous. It might have helped if he'd tried to go for the ball. Griffin's challenge on Borini is close to unforgivable as there was no danger at all. I don't blame Harte for his lack of pace leading up to their third goal although Kish playing statues allowing Dobbie to waltz past didn't help. As for the second where do I begin.
Swansea were there for the taking in the first twenty minutes of each half and we threw it away. AGAIN.
