There could be nothing left of Blackpool next season. Could be another hard season coming up.

Ian Royal I'd take a fit Hargreaves any day.

I get the feeling Upson is one we shouldn't go back for because we'd be disappointed.

Not a huge amount we could realistically get, that leaps out at me.

We'd be disappointed with a recent England international, who has spent his entire career in the Premier League, and is a much better defender than any of our current options?

OK then mate.

Was just thinking that I wouldn't be too upset if we cashed in Shane Long for megabucks and picked up Simon Cox for free. I'd love to see Brian McD work his magic on Cox for us and Shane can go off and try his luck with the big boys. Everyone's happy then (except maybe Snowball).

Some nice players release from Villa alone.

Nigel Reo-Coker, John Carew and Robert Pires, plus others.

Carew could do a job in the PL for us but would want a lot of money no doubt.

I always liked Reo-Coker. Might be one magic man Brian could get the best out of.

Is Cox definitely out of contract - I thought he had a year left.

Finally Arsenal have released Thomas Cruise - must be worth a punt.

Reo-Coker played with Mikele and Jobi at Wimbledon...would be good to re-unite the crazy gang  He'd give us another dimension and could be used in the 'just off the front man' role...Sidwell-esque...

Are we talking about Upson here? Then m8, you are wrong, he hasn't spent his entire career in the Premier League. He spent 3 months with us.....in the second tier.

Victor Anichebe in on loan for me sounds like a good bet. Obviously that will never happen though lol

One on that list that I'd have liked would've been Jason Roberts.

Not sure on the accuracy of the list though as he apparently signed a new contract with Blackburn in January. I'm pretty sure Simon Cox's contract has a year to run as well.

There are several players on there who I think could be affordable and could do a job:

Parnaby and Murphy from Birmingham - two very capable full-backs at this level.
Jloyd Samuel - same as above
John Pantsil - has his h8ers but I think he could do well, a la Rosenior
Diomansy Kamara - worth a punt shirley?
Faye from Stoke (and Sonko - I believe he's on a free) - experience and muscle at the back, although not the pace that we desperately need.
Giles Barnes - a suitable replacement for our Jimmy
Wolves' Jones and Kightly - both excellent at this level

I'd agree on the fullbacks you picked out there. Samuel would be an interesting option and from what I saw did ok at Cardiff. He's pretty quick, decent going forward and isn't your typical small fullback so is good enough in the air.

I was surprised that he's now 30 though and I can't see us taking on another fullback who's 30+. I doubt he'd be a cheap option either.

With Cummings coming through I can't see us doing any business at right back either, unless someone unexpectantly wants to take Griffin back up north.

I'd take a punt on Kightly, and if Sonko's going to be fit he's a club legend - and very competent at this level.

A big NO THANKS to the rest. Until they sign.
