Forbury Lion How have the chairman's other business done over the season? - Like it or not, that could be the key question in determining how much cash the club need to raise.

Didn't he get shot of the Station Hill development?

Only if you think that JM should lend money to the football club, which one day will need to be repaid. And he lost a lot on Station Hill, google it if you want the details.
I was thinking the opposite, that the chairman will want to shuffle money about so the club may end up lending money to the other businesses to help them fill their budget holes..... If the property company lost alot of money on station hill they may need propping up.

I bought two shirts a cap and a very snazzy RFC ring! That´s more in the coffers!

People seem to be forgetting the hotel in all this. JM has loaned the club £17m to fund the hotel, the interest on which is paid by the club. That is probably where the mystery "black hole" is.

Royal Lady I suspect a lot more people bought a season ticket prior to Monday, in the hope they'd get cheaper Prem football. Just a guess. Whereas when budgeting at the beginning of the season, they wouldn't have budgeted for a play off final or a sixth round of the FA cup either.

And many of those would have been pay on the day fans, so overall money in bank, but possible less per match overall.

I doubt there are many fans who pay on the day EVERY home game. :|

Snowball I'd appreciate it if this thread did not turn into a battle over Madejski.

That's not the point of this OP.

I'm just wondering what extras/changes we have.

Elsewhere I asked:

Does anyone know what the PO Final is worth to RFC?

We have a few "extras" this year

PO Final 85,000 * 60? = 5,100,000 less Wembley's costs and FA cut. Is that two million to the club?
2 x PO Semis
Man City Away
Everton Away

The sad loss of Chris Armstrong releases a wage, Mooney releases a wage (or 50%, say).

If Shane goes, that should be 3.5 Million at worst and (theoretically) up to twice that, and his (higher) wages gone

I'm just saying that if you're going to pay on the day every game, you're better off getting a season ticket. Why pay more than you need to if you go to every single home game

Nicky Hammond said:
Thanks to our FA Cup run this season and playing at Wembley in the play-off final we are looking like we are in a better position going forward.

Lets see what happens after the board meeting on Wednesday. It seems Hammond is contradicting Madejski.

maybe because, not everybody can afford the big "one off" hit in one go etc etc.

...........and I was just saying, that back before the days of Sky and the likes...........you could just turn up and pay on the day for every game

but then...I am a dinosaur

....and you wouldn't want to know why I didn't have a ST 30 years ago

Snowball First, weren't the cheapest seats £62 for adults, rising to the 98 I had to pay? Say an average of 75-80.

Then what proportion of fans were 18-64.9? I'd say at least 3/4

.25 at 40 quid .75 at 80 quid is an average of 70 quid a ticket, so 55 seems low, if anything

No the cheapest were £36 of which there were 4,906, then there was 10,330 tickets at £52, 12,908 at £64, 9,277 at £76 & 1,585 at £98. THis was before additional allocations.

So before any costs and concessions the average was £65.

Allowing 25% for concession you end up at £57 average and then you still haven't allowed for any costs, which for staging an event like this are quite significant.

So £55 was pretty good. Well done Schards

In my opinion the deduction for costs would be a fair bit more than 2 pounds per ticket meaning that Schards was optimistic at 55 pounds, which was my original point.

Also, its probably a bad business plan to spend every penny of a surplus.should always have a rainy day fund

Would there have been any extra revenue from Sky and ESPN in regard to the play-offs and Cup run?

Reading Chronicle suggests McDermot wants to fight and keep the side together
even while recognising SJM wants to make cuts. Add in Hammond seems to be sabre-
rattling a little, perhaps Hammond-McDermot genuinely feel that hanging on to Shane,
Jimmy, Matt etc, and maybe one addition we have a fantastic chance next year.

The flip side is that once one star goes, 4-5 might and then we could be flirting
with the bottom six

The table since L-Wood arrived (all 28 games, not just the ones he played in)
shows we averaged 1.86 points-per-game, the equivalent of an 86-point season,
and that's starting with an unfit L-Wood and two 0-0 home draws

The squad held together might easily achieve that 86 points, good enough for automatic.

There is every reason to expect Shane to get 20+ goals. We should see big improvements
in HRK and Cummings and McCarthy, improvement in Karacan. It's unlikely Simon Church will
have a worse season than this one. He may well recapture his 2009-10 form and be a force,
and there's Manset and Williams pushing for a place.

The only question will be the full-backs who are aging. Can they cut it for another season
or would we need to bring in some pace? I'd say this squad +1 or +2 would be top three for
most of the season and have a great chance of top two.

1 28 16 09 3 56-33 +23 57 (94) 2.04 Norwich City
2 28 14 10 4 49-29 +20 52 (86) 1.86 Reading

3 28 14 08 6 38-24 +14 50 (82) 1.79 Queens Park Rangers
4 27 14 05 8 45-26 +19 47 (80) 1.74 Swansea City
5 28 14 06 8 48-34 +14 48 (79) 1.71 Nottingham Forest
6 28 13 06 9 53-40 +13 45 (74) 1.61 Leicester City

But lose Long, Kebe, Mills, NcAnuff, maybe Karacan and ,,, ?

I agree Snowball.

If we can keep this squad together we have every chance of promotion again.

No reason why we shouldn't.

It seems to me COMPLETELY outrageous that there is even talk of people going. Why the **** should this be the case!??? Yet people still get their knickers in a twist when I dare to have a go a Madejski.

We have a good side. There is no reason not to hold onto it. Especially after the surprise, unwanted, unexpected lottery windfall of over £7million from the sale of Siggy.

I just don't get why not making it means we automatically have to lose players. UNLESS the players themselves really desperately want to go. In which case I'd say good riddance to the them.

If Shane Long had every intention of staying, why was he SO cut up and inconsolable after the game on Monday? Seemed to me that he'd been told he'd be off, if someone bid the figure that would trigger his release, and he knew he was off.
