Row Z Royal
swansea jack Graham to us for GBP3.5m...not sure where that cash is from though.

You don't need cash in the Prem m8. Just a Mastercard.

record fee for brighton? £1m
are watford in trouble? he's a young and bright looking player and they sell him to quite possibly a less team in the same division.

No wonder there's so many foreigners in the Premier League with these kind of prices for English players!

But these prices being paid are not exactly what the player is worth ofcourse, it's just what you have to pay to make a deal happen.

Exactly what I'm trying to say, 20 million quid to make a club listen for Jordan Henderson?? I'll keep shopping thanks!
Don't get me wrong it's good to see a club look to sign homegrown players but they're getting their pants pulled down and arse raped to do it.

Well Ngog is worth around £20,000 so that's not as bad as first thought.

Deffo. I mean, it would be gr8 to see a team full of English players do well, but Liverpool going for the likes of Henderson etc, will it really get them up with the big teams where they want to be?

Chopra's form fluctuates with his weight, but if he gets himself in nick over the summer, he's a 15-20 goal striker, and for an Ipswich side on the up at the end of last season. Will they hold on to Wickham over the summer?

Henderson a good signing for Liverpool, perhaps a long-term replacement for Gerrard too. Definitely paid over the odds at £20m, but Sunderland will have seen how they bent over on the Carroll deal. But £13m + Ngog is a great deal.

NFA - I know you don't particularly want serious debate, but...

You can only approach it as Chelsea do - 'who are the very best players available right now?' if you have an Abramovich in charge of the purse strings. Liverpool's new owners have made money available, but for Liverpool and most clubs, value for money is paramount, and offloading the wages of the likes of Ngog and CoLOLe as key to their summer spending as getting players at the right price. So in that case, is a 20 year old Englishman who just made his full international debut a good buy? Probably. Will it win them the title? Maybe, probably not, but Dalglish is clearly trying to build a squad, rather than buy the title.

Believe Dalglish has said he wants a smaller squad at Liverpool but one that is of overall higher quality which, to be fair, has always been their problem in recent years. The blooding of youngsters like Shelvey has gone some way to starting that ball rolling and very good some of them look to - and much better for the team and, if they fully develop, the home countries. Never would have got the chance under Benitez.

Rumoured to be about £16m

Only a good thing for the future of English centre backs - him and Smalling playing together will do wonders for our national side
