Rev Algenon Stickleback HBarry the bird boggler Rushden & Diamonds have been expelled from the National Conference for financial reasons and Southport reprieved from relegation
Bishops Stortford must be fuming, as it means they'll be shifted to the Conference North.
Other than Histon, there's only one other club within 70 miles of them, and only two within 100 miles.
... and as a knock-on, I think that means Thurrock get reprieved with potentially more 'escapes' lower down - so as I wrote a week or two back virtually no relegation other than voluntary from STEP04 again this season.
Will potentially all shift again in the next week, as rumours abound that Stockport are drowning in debt too - and may not be able/permitted to take their place in the Conference.
Another 'rumour' I've picked up on - that I'm not convinced by - is that 'new boys' to the Hellenic for 11-12, Highmoor/IBIS, will apparently be playing their home games at Palmer Park Stadium.
I was positive I'd read long ago, that the pitch dimensions there precluded its use for anything other than Youth or Charity/Benefit games?
Peppard's meteor-like rise up the non-league ranks in the late 90s, came to a shuddering halt when they played there for a season and were subsequently found to be using a non-standard/illegal pitch length.
Got thrown out of the Vase because of it AFTER shocking Oxford City!
... or has someone ploughed up the Athletics track.
... perhaps they are using one of the outside pitches?
