Ian Royal That would be a good move for Mills.

our money back plus £2m. step forward pearce (better) and the young and promising morrison and with it more pace in the back four. i like mills, he shows a lot of promise but he still makes far to many mistakes, lunges into too many needless challenges and gives away needless free-kicks. his temper holds him back too. for £3m this would be good for both parties, but we will need to bring in a replacement with Ivar also leaving.

Pearce better than Mills? I like Pearce but no way. Oh and thats why Premier League clubs are chasing Pearce?

when pearce got back into the team 2nd half of this season he out performed mills in every game i saw.

Last August Pearce had the dubious honour of being Scapegoat #1 (which appears to be a surefire way of having a great season if you look at Long, Harte, Kebe, Federici, even Cummings). But for the first few months of the season, up until his injury, he was our best defender. Very steady performances and looked solid and reliable, as well as getting better at distributing the ball out of defence with a good range of passing.

As for getting lucky with Long replacing Sigs goals, don't forget we got lucky in the first place with Sig replacing Doyles goals :P

Lawson D'Ath to score 20 next season?

We paid 2 million for Mills so by my maths thats a 1 million profit. He was outstanding in the run in, both games against Cardiff and the only one of the back four at Wembley to play half decent.

Uh-oh

Skysports.com understands that Wolves have made a move for Reading skipper Matt Mills.

The impressive defender missed out on a place in the Premier League after The Royals suffered play-off heartbreak when they lost to Swansea.

Now Mills looks set to get the chance to move to the Premier League with Wolves leading the chase for his signature.

Stoke, Newcastle and West Brom have also been linked in the past, but Mick MCarthy is now looking to seal a deal.

Skysports.com understands Wolves have made an approach, but they will need to meet Reading's valuation - which is thought to be in excess of £3million.

Reading are already looking at potential replacements and they are ready to join Ipswich and Charlton in the battle for Colchester's Magnus Okuonghae .

The understanding is that we signed Mills is a deal worth £2m and that we've only paid about a £1m of that.

As for Mills' pace, I wouldn't say he's slow no, but he's not quick. What we could do with is someone with real pace to give us a bit of a fall back and safety net.

Primus, Sonko and Upson were all quick. Having that pace just allowed them to cover for their own and others mistakes where slower defenders wouldn't quite get there. We miss that genuine pace.

Unfortunately pacey centre backs of any quality are few and far between and normally very expensive.

£4million would be a good price for a good but not exception defender, however he will need to be replaced. I have not seen Morrison play, but if he is slow that would leave us extremely vulnerable at the back.

The biggest concern as always is whether the cash will vanish into think air, or will we get a sizeable chunk to reinvst,

Who Moved The Goalposts? (added to the fact that we have never been big spenders).

If you could put Pearce's brain in Mills' body the combined player would be going to Man Utd or a similar level. Conversely, if you put Mills' brain in Pearce's body the combined player would be off to Huddersfield or similar.
