Noel Hunt, 20+ goals -2011/12 Championship

Gonna put my neck on my line. As long as Hunt's fit for 80% of the games next season i'm confident he will get more than 20 league goals, and I realise he doesn't take penalties.

I shall be bumping this thread at the end of the season when we're looking forward to the Prem thanks to Noel Hunt.

Hunt did take penalties at his old club (Dundee?) didn't he? Assuming Long goes, he's got a fair chance of being taker... You'd expect Harte if he's playing I guess.

I can see him getting 16 / 17 under those circumstances but not 20+

noel hunt will miss 20 games before he scores 20 goals. if we could get a full season out of him then he would be a key player.

The trouble is that's unlikely. Will Shane be his partner, will Kebe and McAnuff be throwing in crosses?


HOWEVER

Of the league and cup games we played, there were 4,710 minutes
but Noel only played 2,128 minutes (including a few warm-up sub-appearances
on his come-back from his op). That's just 45.18% of the possible time on the pitch


If he were to play 4,710 minutes (all the games at 90+ minutes) (AOTB=) he'd be on for 22+ goals.

If he played for 80% of the time, he'd be on for 17.7 goals

Now. he seemed to really play well with Shane. Would he do so well with A N Other?

OTOH if he started the season with a flourish and his confidence was high, then IF his
body stands the pace (and he plays 80-90% of the available minutes) then YES he could make 20.

But as it is, based purely on a pro-rata scaling up (if he plays 80% of the time)... 18 goals

He got 13 goals playing 29 x 65 minutes and 10 sub appearances (just over 2204 minutes) (2008-9) at a goal every 169 minutes.

REMEMBER HE WAS PLAYING WITH A LONG-TERM INJURY which is supposed to be fixed.


In theory, at least, at that rate he'd need to play 3,380 minutes [37/38 full games or 33 (18) ] to get 20 goals

Noel took and scored our penalty at Barnsley under Rodgers back at the start of 09/10 before he got injured, no reason to think he won't be on pen duty again if Long and Harte are out of the team.

Could well get 20+ goals if he's fully fit, but that is a big big if. if he plays 80% of the games that's asking for 37 games, so would be some achievement! I'd be more than happy with a 15 goal return.

2,204 Minutes 13 Goals (Arrived at the club carrying injury, typically played 65 minutes)
0,565 Minutes 02 Goals (The injured season, eventually had an op to fix it.)
2,128 Minutes 10 Goals (A fair feew minutes "coming back" and finding his feet.)

Even so

4,897 Minutes 25 Goals = a goal every 195 minutes. VERY good striking

I'd like to go on the lash with Noel Hunt, he's a boy. Not our best player, but must do wonders for the team due to his charisma. I heard an amazing story about him pi.s.sing against a shop window after watching and Ireland game, and presumably the boy Steve, at the Emirates. Steamed up boiiiiii.
I don't reckon he'll get 20 goals, I reckon he'll leave in Jan if we have no Irish players left, which looks a bit inevitable. Apart from obviously Harte, but Noel probably looks at him like a watchful uncle.
