Rob-Royal I know all that but you asked the question and you can dress it up all you like to justify the argument.....

At the end of the day we've gone from a club where we were competing to buy players to a club that now sells it's best talent. Players know this, agents know this and sadly we all know it....you can claim it's for the benefit of the club and it's long term future financially (and to a certain extent I can understand this) and you can also make it sound like it's to the benefit of the players too with the relationship with the club, but try telling that to the paying public if what they see on the pitch starts going t1ts up...

We've got to keep finding jems, nurturing talent in the academy and the production line needs to keep providing to sell on....is that a sustainable model to work to?[/quote]

Isn't that the norm for most football clubs?

Depends what you mean by 'most' - there are many football clubs and somebody has to buy for you to be able to sell....

I think that RFC have become very good at it in the past 5 years.

My point, is that sustainable to stay in the championship or get promoition?

it certainly does appear to be

Yep, there's definitely worse things in life than waking up to Miss Rigby (Feels like there's an 's' missing between the 'g' and the 'b'). And looking at the scene behind her that's some hot tub Matty Boy's got going in the garden. 8)

Never forget his entrance when he joined us all in the away game at Cardiff (season before last).

He was suspended for a few games, so during the Cardiff game McDermott sent him up to sit with the fans, he walked all the way round the field, and came into the stand so we all sang ' theres only one matt mills' until he sat next to some random bloke. The Cardiff fans were a bit stop and stare!

Royal Lady Or

Player is happy here
Player doesn't want to go to any of the clubs currently listed as "interested" in him
Player stays until such time as both he and the club agree he should move on.

He wasn't sent by McDermott. The "random bloke" he sat with was his father.

Wolves have made a club-record equalling £7million bid for Birmingham defender Roger Johnson and a £3million offer for Reading’s Matt Mills.

But their hopes of landing either central defensive target are resting in the balance.

Blues are believed to want £10million for the 28-year-old, while Reading are ready to offer Mills a bumper contract worth up to £30,000-a-week to entice their captain to stay.

I'd be surprised if we went as high as £20k, and that's a similar deal to what kept Doyle and Hunt here for one final season along with their sizable release clause added. 30k no chance at all.

All depends really, on the actual contract, pay him 30k for a season, and have a £5m release clause if we do not go up. So we gte the money back next summer, and keep a good player, I think that it would piss a few of the others off though.

if he goes we will need to buy,and will take a while to bed a new defence in,so it may be worth it financially. I just cant see us offering that to anyone.not after spending the last three years getting the wage bill to a manageable level.

I wouldn't be surprised if we offered all our top team a much better deal than they're getting to keep them and really push for promotion though... I mean much better than we have done in the past.

The suggestion that we might pay anyone £30k a week right now is laughable.
