Royal Rother The suggestion that we might pay anyone £30k a week right now is laughable.

Laughable and any other synonym thereof.

Yes he'll be offered new terms and a pay rise but we WILL NOT pay any player 30k per week, I doubt if any ot our players were getting 30k a week in the Premier League let alone the Championship.

Note the the press report says worth UP TO 30k per week ....

Which equates to £1.56 MILLION a year. Just where will that sort of money come from?

More reasonable weekly amount, but performances bonuses = a potential of 30,000k at the end of the week would be my guess

Sarah Star I wouldn't be surprised if we offered all our top team a much better deal than they're getting to keep them and really push for promotion though... I mean much better than we have done in the past.

Possibly. But in order to push for promotion we will need to strengthen which in turn leads to extra expenditure. There seems to be a great deal of resistance to this by SJM (wrongly or rightly). I think the club would rather cash in and rebuild than 'speculate to accumulate'.......

Yorkshire Royal I am hardly the biggest fan of Reading. Although having recently visited Coventry, perhaps I have been harsh on the old home town.

I remember you badmouthing Reading a while ago. Coventry? Coventry is just a bigger version of Bracknell!!!

He was suspended for a few games, so during the Cardiff game McDermott sent him up to sit with the fans, he walked all the way round the field, and came into the stand so we all sang ' theres only one matt mills' until he sat next to some random bloke. The Cardiff fans were a bit stop and stare!

Random bloke being his dad, llew. 8)

WE have a team now that got us to within a goal or two of achieving promotion. We should only need to tweak it a bit and rebuilding takes time and/or a lot of money. We have a record of rewarding those we want to keep... maybe not to £30K a week, but to a higher level than their present contracts, e.g. most recently McDermott.

i appreciate what you're saying sarah, but you have to remember we were not a team in the top six all season. we were a mid-table team but for one fantastic and unexpected 8 match winning run that allowed us to gate-crash the play-offs. this team neads a bit more than a tweak, and now it's minus a natural leader in ingimarsson and also kish, and is likely to be minus it's main source of goals in shane long.

Even if we'd got promoted I struggle to see us paying anyone £30k a week. That's about 3 times the average Champ wage isn't it? I can just imagine Madejski spitting his rice crispies across the room reading that one.
