Ian Royal
royalsroyalsroyals92 None of my previous post worked.
just asking ian royal, why do think he would be so eager to leave?
Working for a manager who gave him a chance
Club captain,
in a team with potential!

Because he's obviously ambitious and thinks he's very good. It would be extremely rare for a modern footballer to turn down a big move. Rodgers bought him from Donny, not McDermott. Donny got him on the radar as a good player, not Reading.

when i say he's working for a manager who'd give him a chance, i mean that it seemed obvious the signing was agreed before Brendan, and Brendan hardly played the lad! i do genuinely think he may have more loyalty than we expect, however if he leaves i give you full permission to quote this and take the piss

Does it really matter how much he goes for? It'll all disappear into the same black hole.

Mills was the one in the dressing room who stood up to Brendan and said that that the players couldn't do what he was asking of them and didn't understand his tactics.

He was promptly dropped and the odds are he would have been sold the following January. That's one of the things which hastened his departure, just 15 days before the transfer window opened.

Snowball Overall I'd like Millsy to stay

But has anyone considered that letting Mills go solves a problem for McDermott?

He could play Harte in the middle with Pearce or Morrison, thus keeping his free-kick and passing skills
and use the money to but a quick, young left-back

Pearce and Harte at CB??? That's an even slower combination that last season!

ridiculous from brendan there imo.
that was a pretty brave, and captain like thing to do from mills. to drop him for it was a horrendous piece of management.

All part of the "I'm in charge, do it my way or don't do it at all" attitude that was BR's downfall.

loyalroyaldaz Cos he fits the mould of a wanna big time Charlie. Fit Wag on his arm, you can see him now falling out of China White`s on a Sunday Morning, threatening to punch some Paps face in for daring to take a photo of his missus snatch as she clambers into a taxi !Dont mind him as a player, bit inconsistent still, but he is not a captain yet imo.
Mate of mine from Wolves told me a couple of weeks ago he was going there for £4m, if thats the case then so be it, more gutted to lose Longy. use the money to go and get Betrand. Him and the newly resurrgent Cummings would be such a plus for us.

This is hilarious!!! He's had plenty of chance to do just that and he hasn't. Seems to me people are jealous of him - 24, got a bit of money - professional footballer, got a nice girlfriend. Jeez. If it wasn't so funny, it would be very sad!!

I've rated Mills for a long time - I can see he can be fantastic for us. Cardiff away in the play-offs was probably his best game that I've seen him in. He has all the qualities and attributes needed to go far in this game, he's not the finished article. I've stood up for him all season and I'll continue to do so. Some of the "arguments" on here against him are, frankly, pathetic.

Anyone else see Mills in Top Man everytime they go shopping? Constantly passing the guy in uncomfortable silence on the stairs.

Want to say "oh hey, err good luck on the weekend and stuff" but then I remember that I spend most of the match slating his decision making.

Ian Royal
Royal Rother The suggestion that we might pay anyone £30k a week right now is laughable.

Even if we'd got promoted I struggle to see us paying anyone £30k a week. That's about 3 times the average Champ wage isn't it? I can just imagine Madejski spitting his rice crispies across the room reading that one.

Not by a long way. There are a number of players on and around 20k a week in this division.

And seeing as there are many more on less than £10k a week that probably makes the average around £10k, wouldn't you say?

Really interesting over that argument to be honest, i never have heard! Would be interesting if we could collate all this information and problems within from the Rodgers era. Certainly doesnt seem like he was overly popular

Here’s another story then.

One of BR’s training ground routines, was based on the Chelsea team and formation. Each player was given a Chelsea player’s identity and told to mimic their style of play – Rasiak was Drogba , Bertrand was A.Cole and Karacan was Essien etc etc. A day or so later, Karacan had swapped his Mini and drove into training in a spanking new Audi Q7. Brendan wasn’t happy about the younger players flashing their cash and pulled him in. Jem retorted that he’d asked him to copy Essien and he’d done exactly that!

Karacan didn’t start a match for Rodgers again.

LoyalRoyal22 Well there must be something influencing your dislike towards him, as he is clearly our best centre half, at a great age and is only going to get better. Also Club captain.....

Yeah, it's the way he can't control himself, has ropey positioning, hoofs the ball all the time and commits loads of unnecessary cynical fouls. I think he's an awful person to make captain because he doesn't set a good example at all.

I agree entirely. I also happen to think that any Reading player who threatens a fan (not me incidentally) for complimenting him is probably an utter cnut.
