Svlad Cjelli
Always_Royal Doncaster have a 20% sell on clause, which would mean they will get around £800k of any deal should Mills move on.

Sell-ons are done on profit, not on total sale price, so probably closer to half of that.

Surely it depends on what is agreed between the clubs when the sale is done? And as none of us are party to that deal we have no idea what was agreed.

As I said previously (before this article) that Doncaster fans believe they have a sell on clause based on sale price and not profit, AND that they are also entitled to the add on for Mills playing in the Premiership because it didn't stipulate whether it was for us or for the club we sell him to.

We'll see, but that's not my understanding of things, and I'd be very surprised if RFC had ever agreed to such a deal - if only because a sell-on on total sale price would mean us taking a real hit if we sold him at a loss.

I agree with you, all I am posting is what Donny fans are saying......

The Mirror Stoke are in talks with Reading’s Matt Mills over a £3.5million switch.

The Potters are offering more money than Wolves in the race for the highly-rated defender, who missed out on promotion with the Royals and is now being allowed to leave.

Stoke turned to Mills, 24, after being quoted £12million-plus for Birmingham’s Scott Dann.

But ambitious Leicester are making a late effort to hijack the deal. The Foxes are offering Mills £25,000 a week, which is more than Stoke are willing to pay.

Can't see him going to another champ club, if he did it would be a real kick in the teeth.

Also if brum can qoute 12m to ward off clubs why don't we?

Would be disappointed if Leicester came close to signing him.

Someone stick £4m in for him and I can see him going! Shame Jason Pearce has gone

Because Birmingham have got 4 years worth of parachute payments and are perhaps happier to stand in a players way of progressing, keeping unhappy players and not running the club on a sustainable business model.

As Dirk has said on a number of times, RFC try to set themselves apart from other clubs by looking after players and often doing whats good for them and not just the club. That gives us some edge when trying to sign players when we can't offer the same in wages.

I think bigger clubs may come in for Dann too, so I can uderstand them having a higher sale price than we do for Mills.

To summarise, Fordham thinks £4m will get him, Wolves have offered £3.5m and £3.75m which were both turned down, and Mills isn't going to hand in a transfer request if our valuation of him isn't met. Mills has been offered a new £20k/week contract here.

My concern would be if we don't receive a bid large enough then Mills runs down his contract and goes for free next summer.

Would have prefered Stoke myself. They look they more established side in that league, but money talks. If we get £4m then I'm happy enough with this, I just hope we reinvest in a central defender. It's no good saying Bryn can cover, maybe Leigertwood too.

Presumably that "news" is based on this article:

http://www.expressandstar.com/sport/wol ... to-wolves/

which just puts a different slant on the EP's one. Nowhere have I seen anything that says Mills is actually going to Wolves... though that doesn't mean it's not out there somewhere.

Why 'boo'? We get a shedload of cash to buy a replacement who isn't a hot-headed, arrogant liability.

^^^this

eventhough he is one of my best m8's outside of football, £4m is mega money for an inconsistent player

Absolutely - thankfully Mick McCarthy has based his opinion on the Everton FA Cup game live on ESPN rather than the bog-standard league games where he is a yellow card waiting to happen most weeks, where he castigates his defensive colleagues whenever we concede, where he regularly makes positional errors, where his distribution can most politely be described as aimless.

Yep - plus if we get a new captain perhaps we might return to being a team that is properly disciplined and professional, and doesn't go to pieces quicker than a shrapnel bomb at the first perceived injustice.

I think Mills has a lot of potential but I do agree with these last two posts.

It's probably my biggest gripe with McDermotts tenure that we've become quite an ildisciplined outfit and I think that's a sign of the weaknesses that cause that captitulation Dirk refers too. I think it comes from a higher figure in the camp than Mills though, although with Mills, Harte and Long in the side we're always going to be a bit petulant.

McAnuff would make a good captain in that respect.

It's more the choice of wolves than the player leaving

I keep thinking back to Ipswich at home last season. The ref was as pedantic as they come but that still did not stop Mills from picking up 2 completely avoidable yellow cards.

I also agree with the level of ill discipline within the team. That was one thing that Coppell had well under control. There will always be occasions when decisions go against you. The secret is how to react when it happens. Giving the officials grief will not do anything positive. It also sets an appalling example to youngsters.

If Mills goes to Wolves or wherever then good luck to him. If he stays then I hope that he works on this side of his game and cuts out the crap.
