leicsRoyal Harte at left back worries me. Harte at centre back scares the sh!t out of me!

I think we brought in Morrison knowing that Kish would be off. I don't think we expected the level of interest in Mills that has come about.

In my opinion if Mills goes, we need a replacement not a re shuffle.

Don't agree - think Harte at CB is a lot less worrying than Harte at LB. Pace is less important than positioning at CB - especially if you have speedy full backs to cover.

I would like to see Pearce and Harte at CB with a new pacey player at LB. Morrison and ANO (probably up and coming younger player) could be reserve CB's. That way we keep Harte’s creativity but are less affected by his lack of pace.

So instead of having 2 CBs going up for a corner or wide free kick, there is only one because Harte, at CB, would be taking the free kicks. It would just make life easier for the opposition. Thanks, but no thanks.

Don't forget that "new pacey player at LB"!

it may be held over towards covering any future shortfall.

Yeah, keep that money under the mattress incase a beaver eats all the corner flags or something.

Yeah, because pace and size go hand in hand.

A winger with genuine pace running at a slow exposed left back won't always lead to a direct threat on goal. A striker with the same genuine pace running at the same slow left back playing out of position at centre back is not a route I would like us to even think about!

Hate the arrogance of this bunch ....hope Hammond tells Moxey to go and screw himself...however knowing Hammond, highly unlikely ...

Wolves remain confident of finally landing Reading defender Matt Mills – despite Leicester having a £4million bid accepted for the player.

The Foxes are understood to have met Reading’s asking price, after Royals boss Brian McDermott revealed yesterday he had turned down a £3m-plus offer from Wolves.

Wolves have steadfastly refused to budge on their stance and aren’t likely to be persuaded to ramp up the bidding at this late stage.

They are aware Mills wants Premier League football now and the 24-year-old – who will turn down a £20,000-a-week offer from Reading – prefers Wolves.

Also, Wolves don’t see why they should pay over the odds for a player who only has a year left on his contract and is unproven in the Premier League. Mills had 60 minutes of top flight experience while at Manchester City.

Given these factors, Wolves are comfortable that if they stick to their guns, they will get their man. It means Reading can either cash in now, or keep an unhappy player and lose him for free in 12 months’ time.

Or sell him to Leicester, who will tie him up in a lot longer contract than 12 months and Wolves can forget all about their guns!!

Sorry. Knowing Hammond? You know him? Or you're just being a pillock?

Hammond has proved time and time again to be very shrewd in his role as Director of Football. How anyone here can dare fault him beyond me.

re buying Bertrand to replace Harte and put Harte in as CB. I'm sure I saw somewhere that West Brom were close to signing Bertrand and I'm pretty sure he'd choose them over us if that's the case - plus I can't see us paying £5m or whatever it is for him.

Agree with roadrunner, Hammond has done a brilliant job at RFC, long may it continue.

Completely agree!

£4 mill for Mills is good money, so will £5 mill for long as was £7 mlll for Gylfi. None of us are supporting Reading knowing that we are going to see players of this value for very long.
Keep the Academy products rolling, polishing some rough diamonds and find some hidden gems out there.

Looks like he could be off to Leicester then. As much as i hate to see him go there, they look like with their new signings they could be definite title challengers and £4mil is a 100% profit is it not? Or was Mills £2.5mil, i cant remember. Anyway a very good price for someone not as good as people make out.

Ian Royal
Hoop Blah I don't think you should saddle an emerging play like Pearce with the responsibility of being captain.

It's not an age thing, it's just that he's not established himself in the team let alone enough to be given the armband.

Players like Legiertwood or Karacan would be more realistic options right now if we need to appoint a new man to the job. I think McAnuff or Griffin would be my prefered choices right now though (if Griff was likely to remain as my 1st choice right back that is).

Yeah, Legs would be good. Not too sure about Karacan... he gets a bit headless chicken sometimes and seems to be starting to head towards the Harte / Mills official worrier approach at the moment to me. Griff again is a good choice.

McAnuff > Leigertwood > Griffin > Pearce would be my order of preference now you've made me think a bit harder.

If Mills goes which looks likely, it will be very soon. Therefore, plenty of time to strengthen where needed.

Really.....?? They've just signed Craig Makail-Smith and I don't think the spending will stop there. Maybe Mills wants to play for an ambitious forward thinking club (and one thats likley to pay him far more than RFC will.....).
Let's hope you're right but Mr. Mills will find it far easier to pay for the running of his Audi R8 and girlfriend if employed by the Foxes......

He may not but I wouldn't be surprised if he did. There is a real buzz around the club up here at the moment.
Could you imagine if we had just signed league ones top striker for 3mil and made a 4mil offer for a top rated centre back. As has already been posted, the spending won't stop there.

Looks like the bookies had it spot on when they installed Leicester as joint favourites a few weeks ago.

If Mills goes it will open up the floodgates. As much of a hit it will be to lose Mills the unintended consequences will be much worse. I'd fully expect up to 5 of our better players hand in transfer requests looking to move on to other teams with a bit more ambition.

But I fully expect Mills to be gone soon with our £4 mil asking price being met...
