Doyle to Arsenal - sell on clause?

by TBM » 04 Jul 2011 09:57

Arsene Wenger is lining up a £12million bid for Wolves striker Kevin Doyle as Arsenal finally prepare to splash the cash.

Does that mean we'll get 10% of the sale should he go?

Sell-on clauses are usually done as a percentage of profit, rather than of total sale price.

So as he went to Wolves for £6.5M that'd be a percentage of £5.5M - assuming there is a clause.

Arsenal. Really..? I thought they wanted to win things this year. No offence to Doyle, but surely a club of 'that stature' would rather spend double that and bring in a proven high scoring striker? Eight goals is hardly brilliant?

Though I guess to be fair, given better service, he could increase that tally..

tbf Doyle would be suited there, as he worked the channels hard which will suit Arsenal - they get goals from all over the pitch so no need to get an out and out striker.

with arsenals passing that will at least double imo.

not only that but you must consider that next to arsenals lightweight, and soft squad, doyles hard work and bustle is probably just what they need

always thought he was good enough to play in the top 4 eventually
(not first choice, but hey, who cares)

If you were wolves and you lost your hard working irish striker you signed from reading where would you look for his replacement?

On Football Manager we do, and normally they are pretty spot on with these sort of things

:D
Couldn't agree more. He's gash, yet they persevered with him for years.
A lot of it comes down to luck, there's not much difference between Bendtner and a league 1 forward, he just got lucky and couldn't follow it through.

And bear in mind that if any of that reported £12M were to be paid later based around target's rather than up front we would only get our x% each time Wolves get money

Does that mean we'll get 10% of the sale should he go?

Should be enough to cover Robbie Fowler's wages for a season or two until Richard Branson completes his takeover.

I'd love to see Doyle at Arsenal.

His replacement at Wolves? That's obvious isn't it?
