Cant see him going to Leicester ...he wants Prem League football not to play for a consistently under-preforming club !....if he did sign for them then its purely money so we are back into the "footballers being greedy b*stards syndrome"...and the pathetic defence of football only being a short career ...

. even if Mills had signed the Reading deal that he rejected, and played for another 5 years...he'd had made £5m which is more than most people earn in their whole lifetime...ok £3m after tax but still plenty for a more than comfortable lifestyle ...after paying out for the 15 bed mansion, the large array of cars including the customary Bentley, the exotic holidays, the private schools...such a challenging life some of these players have

The "15 Bed Mansion" was exaggerated to make the point ...what Im trying to say is that he could buy a serious property, be mortgage-free and have many of the qualities in life than most normal folk will never ever see in their lifetime - most footballers live in a vacuum where they dont appreciate what they get for what they do ...do they earn it ??? No i dont think they do...do nurses surgeons etc earn their money...every penny ......

Oh I pretty much agree with all that - just gently taking you to task on the exaggeration.

Thing is, it is ALL about money, about maximising income over a short career. As soon as they get an agent that message is banged into them every day of their lives, so that it becomes all-consuming in 99% of players' lives, imo.

LOL @ this. If they offer him 20k plus a week he'll seriously look at it. Look at the players they have brought in this summer. They are spending big and will be right up there this season. If a Premiership club doesn't match our valuation and Leicester do then he will go.

Leicester have already matched our valuation and we have accepted it.

I would expect that Leicester will want to get it tied up pretty quickly to get their new squad all together.
Leicester have been relatively under performing although I suspect that may change this season.

IF he goes to Leicester for me that can't be seen as an ambitious move, yes they may be spending money to try and gain promotion and yes he will be playing under sven with higher wages but i for one will be giving him a 'lets all do a millsy' reception when he appears at mad stad

If he thinks Leicester have got more chance of promotion than Reading have, then by definition it's an ambitious move.

Perhaps he thinks that being an important player in a team likely to go up is a better long term bet than being a newcomer in a PL team - even more so a PL team likely to be fighting against relegation all season.

There's also the factor that playing each week >>>>>>>>> fighting for a place in the team.

I reckon that Leicester could pass Wolves in the opposite direction come the end of season.

So add this to the Sven factor, a crowd that will probably average around 30,000 this season and Leicester's clear intent to put themselves around pole position, not forgetting that Leicester will continue to buy.

If they do achieve promotion, they won't be messing around with players for pocket money.

They seem fairly ambitious to me.

you do have to factor in that theyll have almost a whole new team this season though with all the players they are buying.

RR - taken to task accepted !...totally agree its money money money ......one of the reasons I believe why our national team perform so poorly when the chips are down is because money greed has taken over everything ...as long as they have squillions in their bank account, nothing else seems to matter ...not even playing for their country ...IMHO

To be honest, Leicester do seem very ambitious this season and are spending big to try and get success and im sure millsy will be attracted to that cause they will be on decent odds for promotion.
However it was the same situation for middlesborough last season and look how they ended up...

Nugent, Peltier, St Ledger, Danns and Schmeichel.....and you point is??????

None of those are better than Reading's in their respective positions imo

or create divisions in the squad where the players who arent playing regularly get pissed off. or theplayers who performed well last year, but are fnow orced out so jonny cum-lately can get a game, get the hump.

i still say that bringing in that many new players is going to take a while to sort out though.

and would still much rather grow stuff organically, than just totally rebuilding every couple of years

I keep seeing the word "ambitious" connected with Leicester.

I'd like to make the point that just because Leicester are spending big does not mean they have any greater ambition than Reading.

It simply means they have people who are prepared to gamble with their own / other people's money in an effort to fulfil their ambitions faster than might otherwise have been the case.

Agreed, but they haven't got an academy set up as well run as ours so how do you replace the six players that they had on loan at the end of last season??

I'm not sure that what Leicester are doing will work. We have a great squad togetherness and collective will to succeed; as did all 3 promoted sides last season. And indeed just about every side that has been successful at this level.

Building a new squad over pre-season of players enticed by "ambition" and wages is dangerous. It's clear that they will have what it takes to beat most teams in this league on their day. Truth is, that applies to 90% of Championship sides. Consistency is the key. And I can't see that happening in the environment Leicester are building.

Competition for places is vital, but it must be healthy. Players need to respond to being dropped by working hard and applying themselves in training, not sulking and resenting team mates in ahead of them. We have that attitude in abundance with the likes of Tabb, Bryn, Robson-Kanu, Pearce, Church etc. If Leicester sign a load of big names, on big wages, brought in by "ambition", they may not replicate that. Especially as Mills is probably one of the our players who doesn't perhaps hold our humble, hard working, respectful attitude (most can afford 1 or 2 dicks).

Add to that Sven's track record of controlling big egos with England and Man City and the success of his star studded side in the latter stages of last season...enough said. Blew some teams away, had some stinkers. I can't see Leicester producing the goods week in week out. The new Cardiff perhaps. Expect a good start, some performances to blow teams away and then a disintegration when things start to fall apart.

You heard it here first, and I'll be disappointed if we lose Mills to that (Although smug when he's not a league higher than us in 12 months time).
