NR_Royal I really, really hope we spend at least £2m of this on new players.

There's no reason why we shouldn't spend every penny.

We were told when Gylfi was sold that that would fill the anticipated black hole at the end of last season and we went on to have a season that exceed financial expectations.

As it is, we'll probably pick someoe up to for £250,000 which is why it doesn't matter if the sale price is £2m, £5m or £20m, it isn't the team/fans that benefit from it being a fair, good or excellent bit of business. We just lose a player who will be replaced by a far cheaper one.

Leicester fans looking in here later will be baffled by the delight at selling Mills.

Decent enough but too hot headed and more often than not a liability.

£5m

I'm hard!

Who knows, they might just surprise us.

Personally I can see us spending 2 or 3 million on a CB. With Ing, Khish and Mills gone, we are looking a bit naked defensively... So I think Madejski will have to lose some of that fund whether he likes it or not.

But all our successful signings have been cheapish ones where we've spotted the potential and built on it.

All our crap signings have been expensive ones where we thought we were getting a "finished product" and got a liability instead.

So long may value buys continue.

I'd settle for £2m ish on a decent CB and £500k on a season loan of Bertrand.

Oh boy, I wouldn't even bother arguing with that... Tru' dat, tru.

But you never know, things do change, we might just get the price of our money for once.

Blimey you can say what you like about hammond but 5 million for Mills is laughable ala Kitson. I was very slowly starting to wam to Mills but to be honest i still think he is far too error prone and never likes to admits his mistakes, not a good recipe for a captain. Id have Griff as captain now or perhaps Ledge or Jobi (assuming he stays!). Cue finger pointing/gesticulations from Mills towards Schmeichel after our 90min winner at theirs in Aug!. Clearly we have some work to do at CB now, its not really the area i would have liked us to be even more thin after Ivar and Zurab have left so i think we need a strong signing in there to partner Pearce whilst Morrison is closer to 1st team action now.

Spot on. When will this simple concept sink in?

Far cheaper does not mean any less of a player on the pitch.

And if Leicester are prepared to pay stupid money for him, good luck to them.

Are we that short of CB's though:

Pearce
Gunnarson
Morrison
Harte (Yes, CB, no reason why not).

Best. News. Ever.

My football watching will be infinitely more enjoyable without an overrated utter cnut playing for us next season.

Royal Lady OMFG - he can do one now.

I'll certainly be giving him the Matt Mills Finger when we play Leicester.

^THIS^

Cannot wait for an East Stand full of larvely gestures aimed at him.

Don't get this at all. Fair play, good luck to him, Reading never going to turn £5m down and he'll get a whacking pay rise for doing the same job in the same league.

No brainer

Couldn't agree more C-Log

Which of our centre backs will step up now and replace him by diving lots and hoofing it into the crowd every 10 minutes?

Simple answer: yes we are short on CBs!

Gunnar and Harte should be emergencies only, and not part of a longer term plan.

The longest contract in RFC history now needs to be put on the table.

Step forward Nicky Hammond.

true but papering up the cracks never gets you that far in the end, especially if one of pearce/morrison is crocked
