Royal Lady Will we EVER see a player who is happy to stay where he is without feeling the need to move sideways, just because it means more money.

Even if they were offering the same wages I would expect players to choose Leicester over Reading. far greater chance of Premier League football there than here.

Well, there isn't really is there? That's just conjecture because they're spending a lot of money.

At the start of last season, I'd guess that teams like Middlesborough, Pompey and Cardiff - who all seemed to manage to attract some pretty good and/or big name players would have been in the running for promotion. Where did they all end up? Spending shit loads of money NEVER guarantees you'll do better than anyone else (look at Man City) but at least they are showing some sort of ambition.

It remains to be seen if Mills accepts the offer on the table from Leicester. He has now shown his true colours though, it's the money, not the football or captaincy of our great club that floats his boat........
as if you wouldn't do the same

Really......?? Sometimes loyalty and status is more important than money. I started a small I.T. company 10 years ago with two colleagues and we now employ over 20 people. I could have earnt more by working for a big corporate but I didn't....... Go figure..........

The difference is that in 10 years time Mills will be approaching "enforced" retirement (something that I doubt you are).

A footballer's career is short compared to other walks of life so it's no surprise that they tend to place a greater emphasis on the £££

The difference is that in 10 years, Matt Mills will earn/can earn £15m. I won't.........

Shall we review this at the end of the season to see who finishes highest?

They are delighted with the signing, I think it is just as much the fact that they have beaten premier league sides to him as to the player himself.

I've figured that you cant really make a decent comparison![/quote]

Sorry that I made a poor comparison for you. My original point still stands though. And no, I wouldn't do the same....

royal67 Christ I've fecked up this quoting   .

So, you're working (working not running/owning/directing/managing) for a company - then someone from another company comes in and says "Hey - come work for me, doing exactly the same job - I'll double your wages" you'd say no?

LOL on the quoting thing !!! I keep getting told I can't embed more than three quotes...... How do I overcome this conumdrum.....??
On your other point, in my mind,it's not just a simple as the money, there are other considerations to be made. But that's just me I guess, I've never been particularly materialistic...... Success for me can bemeasured in other ways.
For Matt Mills, it is obviously a far simpler decision - the captaincy of a top six championship club obviously isn't of great value..... Money I am sure is the primary factor. Will he play more games or win more trophies with Leicester than he would with Reading next season? I doubt it.
Good luck to the bloke, it'll be interesting to see what kind of reception he gets when he comes back to the Madjeski ......

This. I work for a big company, but would leave in a heartbeat if a smaller company, let alone one of a similar stature offered me a considerable payrise.

leicsRoyal He just always came across that the club was beneath him and seemed to have that smug 'look how good I am' look on his face.

Club Captain and no one ever sang his name! Says it all.

Let's all do a Millsy

Not really "in praise of him" though is it?

That's not the topic of discussion - it would've been if leicsRoyal said "club captain and no one ever sang his name in praise"

FTR whenever that song was sung, it was normally by smirking spazzes thinking they were hilarious
