TBM What i like about Liverpool and Utd's signings though - is that they are English. Which can only be a good thing for England, them all playing together

Downing, Gerrard, Henderson, Carroll

Smalling, Jones, Ferdinand, Young, Rooney*

*i didn't include Carrick cos he's shit

Johnson at Liverpool too, although he may fall into the Carrick category.

Especially if they keep playing him at left back......Kyle Walker is gonna be our right back i reckon

cmonurz There's little doubt that Liverpool are trying to build a league-winning squad, but whether that happens this season depends on everything falling into place straight away, which is unlikely.

Another 5 year plan for Liverpool then which will fail after 2?

I'm not totally convinced by Liverpools signings. Adam, Henderson, Downing. All ok on their day, but they're not exactly World Class.

2nd-teir and largely unproven. Adam is the best pub player ever to have a decent season in the Prem and Henderson has basically shot from nowhere in the last year. Downing's OK but Ferguson's hardly going to be too worried.

None of them are top four quality but they'll improve Liverpool for now which sums up how poor they've become in recent seasons.

Downing can cross, as can Adam. Seems like the obvious plan is taking obvious shape.

true...although if that's their plan for wide midfielders it's not going to be too hard to stop the ball being got in

Would you put Scott Parker in the same bracket?

No Fixed Abode Modric hands in transfer request.

Will we have Spurs saying no to Chelsea all summer till the end of August?

BTW Good news for us..we've managed to sign a couple of players.

Yeates from Sheff U and a Ghana chap from Dundee U.

Got to give them a chance.

Tis a big gamble but you don't always need superstars to win things.

Decent, hungry British player >>>>>>>>>>> foreign star??

Time will tell. Interesting that the Yanks are throwing all this $ about.

cmonurz There's little doubt that Liverpool are trying to build a league-winning squad, but whether that happens this season depends on everything falling into place straight away, which is unlikely. It sounds like Meireles is on his way, which will be a loss, but there's no doubt that the addition of Henderson, Adam and Downing has strengthened the squad and in the latter Liverpool finally have a genuine dribbling, cross-making winger, which is exactly what the signing of Carroll called for.

Those three, plus Kuyt, Gerrard, Suarez, an improved Lucas, they'll be thereabouts.

And it's difficult to criticise an English team buying young English players, it's good to see.

Maybe LeBron will be playing at Anfield during the NBA off-season to nod (dunk) in those crosses

Juventus join Corinthians in the race to sign that utter tw@t Tevez.

Joe Cole could move to Villa following Downing's move the other way.

Alexis Sanchez to sign for Barca.

Rumours Liverpool want Higuain from Real Madrid.

Looks like the deal to take Cant Control from West Ham to Stoke could be off........chairman puts his boot in about his injury record and Pulis is moaning about his wage demand

No great loss to Stoke. CC is another player that had all the hype as a young player and never lived up to it but has lived off of it.

Not sure about the hype bit. He had a few years of doing nothing but, like plenty of players, he had a pretty good 6 months or so which then propelled him into the England setup (rightly so if you think 6 months good form qualifies you). I don't think his early promise at Chelsea really came into it.

He is very average though.
