Ian Royal Looks like the club learnt a lesson from Bennett and Mooney. Just because they're pulling up trees in Ireland, doesn't mean they're good enough just because Long and Doyle came good.

Have to say I was a bit surprised we were seriously looikng at him as we have som many good young wingers coming through.

Perhaps Brian and Hammond just wanted a few beers in Irealnd and it was a good excuse.

Always worth taking a look Andrew, he may have been better than ours. There may have seen someone else worth taking.

we went out there on a scouting trip and decided he wasn't for us. i don't think that having other wingers here had anything to do with it. kebe will not be here next summer one way or the other, so looking at alternatives already only seems the sensible thing. i'm glad we keep our toe in irish football. ourselves and a few other clubs have benefited from players that have come across from ireland.

Friday's Legacy we went out there on a scouting trip and decided he wasn't for us.

Is that really what happened? Has it been suggested that it's that way round anywhere (I've not read anything about him since McDermott flew out there) or is it just that we've dithered about or not offered as good a deal as Peterborough and so he's going to end up there.

I'm all for giving our youngsters a chance but if we actually wanted the guy and still got beaten to his signature by the Posh then it's not a great sign.

Not at all, just wondered what the basis of the 'we didn't want him anyway' argument was.

LOL- and your first impulse was to think- weve clearly lacked the ambition and gumption to make this transfer happen, rather than our guys went out there, had a look, and thought, for the price its not worth it.

No,I asked where the idea was that we didn't like him came from.

We might not've wanted to spend as much of our budget on him as someone else because we only see him as 3rd choice and just ahead of other options and so worth less than, for example Peterborough, who may seen him as a starting player.

As a few posts implied we'd pulled out as if it was fact and that we didn't just get outbid by Posh I was interested in where that 'fact' came from.

Not too hard to grasp is it brendy?

okay m8!

was simply trying to have a laugh.
not trying to rile anyone,i just find it amusing how any piece of news can be seen from totally polarised viewpoints is all.

i see that you are not in the mood for this kind of thing, so ill shut up and go away.
but i thought we were past that kind of thing in our relationship.
& i find this turn of events highly disappointing, and upsetting

Good!!!!

I'll try and remember that you find bringing a bit of balance and rational thought into things hard to cope with and take that into account in future.

Positivity is great, but blindly jumping to one extreme or the other doesn't usually get you anywhere near the truth.

Not being critical of the management and if they had a few beers on the club good on them. They deserve it IMO - although I doubt the scouting budget is that generous!!

He has failed to agree terms with Peterborough which Barry Fry claims is totally down to his agent. Fry has also said they will not be resurrecting the deal.

It is something to do with the agent wanting a 10% cut when he is only entitled to 5%.

Based on the limited amount I've seen of him there is no way he can cut it in the Premiership

A winger is hardly a priority given Obita's emergence over the last month or so.

Plus the rumour mill went dead after BM and Hammond went to see him so can only assume he wasn't worth a punt.
