Elmer Park I think Maidenhead are the only other Berkshire non league Club in the Competition unless anyone can think of any other Clubs. They join at the Second Qualifying Round stage by which time I am not sure there will be too many of the Berkshire Clubs featured above remaining.

Can't see Bracknell Town in amongst those teams...

D'oh. Now added. I knew I'd miss someone. Many thanks Barry and apologies to Bracknell Town fans

Out of interest which Berkshire Clubs do people think will win a match or two?

Witney United or Newport Pagnell Town v Sandhurst Town or Thame United ( Home to Brackley Town )
Wokingham & Emmbrook or Holyport v Kidlington or Hillingdon Borough ( Home to North Greenford United or Bedfont Town )
Slough Town v Reading Town or Binfield (Away to Banbury United)
Ascot United or Wembley v Ardley United or Flackwell Heath (Away to Bicester Town or Bedfont Sports or Hanworth Villa or Shrivenham)
Marlow v Thatcham Town (Away to Harrow Borough)
Sholing v Gillingham Town or Newbury (Home to Winchester City or Ringwood Town or Blackfield & Langley or GE Hamble)
Shrewton United or Fleet Spurs v Hungerford Town (Home to Verwood Town or Horndean or Bridport or Hayling United)
Aylesbury United or Bracknell Town v North Leigh (away to Leatherhead)

...well knowing a little bit about the local STEPS 5 & 6 league's here and thereabouts - I'd have said a couple of 'our' clubs might get into and beyond the 1st Qualifying Rnd

..taking it in order - 'tie by tie' from the list above here's my semi-educated punt: :)

NPT would expect to come through here - they won the B&B Trophy for the 2nd time in a row in May - might be a decent indicator of Cup potential amongst this lot - so they have a good record against their peers locally - Witney were generally poor last season - Thame are settling very nicely into their new Stadium - you really should take a trip there - lots of Anoraks rave about the bar too - 'Fizzers' usually blow hot and cold in Cup games.

Kidlington - ought to be too strong for the Hellenic sides in this group - don't know much about Hillingdon - finished below mid-way in the South Mids prem last season.

Slough Town - should be strong enough to see off what could still be tricky oppos in RTFC or the 'Moles' - both these sides have had comings and goings in the close season and there are rumours Binfield may be about to lose more - they've already (reportedly) sold Luke Williams to Hayes & Y and Thatcham are said to be sniffing around Ian Davies - these were both real match-winners last term & Sargeant apparently has 'retired'.

Ardley Utd - finished the highest of the three Hellenic sides here - didn't think much of Wembley when I saw them late on in April/May - Flackwell are another side who can be strong in Cup ties.

Marlow/Thatcham - dunno - both well matched at STEP04 - may depend on who they've signed.

Sholing - would expect them to overcome lower opposition - be surprised if Newbury could get near them.

Hungerford should get past either Shrewton or Fleet Spurs - the former's ground may give them some advantage - big slope and a bit bobbly when I went a short while back.

...finally The Robins won't relish taking on North Leigh should they edge past the Ducks - fairly sure the aggregate score in their league meetings in 09/10 was something close to 0-18 ! There were a few discussions on here (I think) last season about how Nor Lye matches are often brimming with goals.

I'm just miffed that this season, RFC's home fixtures clash with all but one of the first four rounds of the FA Cup. :( - I don't think I'm much better off should I wish to follow some early rounds of the Vase either.

and Wrexham Manager Dean Saunders came up with this statement about him after the match. 'He is yards ahead of everyone. Whereas people are running everywhere he can just move into a space early so that he doesn't have to run. We have just got to try and get him fit now and that might be the problem'

Shame that injury hit the last few years of his career. One of my favourite players when he was at Reading and seemed a good guy too.

That's because it was nice to watch players with a football brain and ability play on the wing. Instead of the talentless braindead triers hoovering up the clubs cash on the other side. Hope Little gets fixed up and fit again because he could take the pi$$ at that level.

Maidenhead 3-1 Dagenham

Not the Daggers first team - at least one assumes not, they were a right shower :| - but Maiders looked very impressive tonight, brilliant to see the likes of Richard Pacquette, Manny Williams and Will Hendry back in the stripes. Maidenhead will also have made a few quid from the sale of promising young forward Alex Wall to Martin Allen's Notts County, who themselves travel to York Road for a friendly two weeks today.

Optimistic for a good season at York Road. Certainly more exciting than the prospects at Reading, anyway.

And, for the record, Windsor defeated Slough 2-1 on Saturday in front of 327 in their first ever fixture.

Decent game considering it was the 1st friendly with a hastily assembled squad and Slough had already played a game and had pretty much same squad as last year.

Nice atmosphere, good programme and no Pet Shop Boys - all in all a most enjoyable afternoon. If we keep that team together, with 1 or 2 additions as suggested by Keith Scott in last week's meeting, then we will walk away with the CCL*.

You going tonight?

It funny/worrying that not one person is asking how Windsor are able to beat a side that is going to be challenging for automatic promotion next season in the level above. That said a decent crowd but many would of been slough and ground hoppers etc

WTF is wrong with you?

Why should someone ask that question? Isn't it obvious that, for whatever reason we seem to have attracted better players than Slough.

You think it's because we're going for broke again, I'm telling you that's not the case, you don't believe me.

Just move on and enjoy what is happening FFS rather than keep sniping.

errrrr..... pre season friendly? First game ever so determination higher than would be expected? The proof in the pudding is 6th August and beyond. Then we will see to what extent the "Legions of fans" deserting Windsor stacks up.

FTR, a "Legion" consists of roughly 6,000 people. FYI, Legions were broken down into Maniples and later Cohorts, and then further broken down into Centuries. The quality of journalism these days is really slipping.
