Elmer Park Barry the bird boggler
Can't see Bracknell Town in amongst those teams...
D'oh. Now added. I knew I'd miss someone. Many thanks Barry and apologies to Bracknell Town fans
Out of interest which Berkshire Clubs do people think will win a match or two?
...well knowing a
little bit about the local STEPS 5 & 6 league's here and thereabouts - I'd have said a couple of 'our' clubs
might get into and beyond the 1st Qualifying Rnd
..taking it in order - 'tie by tie' from the list above here's my semi-educated punt:
NPT would expect to come through here - they won the B&B Trophy for the 2nd time in a row in May - might be a decent indicator of Cup potential amongst this lot - so they have a good record against their peers locally - Witney were generally poor last season - Thame are settling very nicely into their new Stadium - you really should take a trip there - lots of Anoraks rave about the bar too - 'Fizzers' usually blow hot and cold in Cup games.
Kidlington - ought to be too strong for the Hellenic sides in this group - don't know much about Hillingdon - finished below mid-way in the South Mids prem last season.
Slough Town - should be strong enough to see off what could still be tricky oppos in RTFC or the 'Moles' - both these sides have had comings and goings in the close season and there are rumours Binfield may be about to lose more - they've already (reportedly) sold Luke Williams to Hayes & Y and Thatcham are said to be sniffing around Ian Davies - these were both real match-winners last term & Sargeant apparently has 'retired'.
Ardley Utd - finished the highest of the three Hellenic sides here - didn't think much of Wembley when I saw them late on in April/May - Flackwell are another side who can be strong in Cup ties.
Marlow/Thatcham - dunno - both well matched at STEP04 - may depend on who they've signed.
Sholing - would expect them to overcome lower opposition - be surprised if Newbury could get near them.
Hungerford should get past either Shrewton or Fleet Spurs - the former's ground may give them some advantage - big slope and a bit bobbly when I went a short while back.
...finally The Robins won't relish taking on
North Leigh should they edge past the Ducks - fairly sure the aggregate score in their league meetings in 09/10 was something close to 0-18 !
There were a few discussions on here (I think) last season about how Nor Lye matches are often brimming with goals.
I'm just miffed that this season, RFC's home fixtures clash with all but one of the first four rounds of the FA Cup.
- I don't think I'm much better off should I wish to follow some early rounds of the Vase either.
