Victor Meldrew No Fixed Abode Chelsea have reached agreement with Barcelona to sign defensive midfielder Oriol Romeu.
Manager Andre Villas-Boas confirmed the news at a press conference in Bangkok, where Chelsea are on a pre-season tour.
Personal terms for the 19-year-old - who two first-team appearances for the Catalan club last season - have yet to be agreed.
Confirming the agreement, Villas-Boas said: "He is one of the most promising young players in that position."
What a shame-Chelsea,hopeless at producing their own players so once again they have to go to one of the big clubs for a temporary transfers (Barcelona have the right to buy him back in 2 years' time)
A bit like a lower division club having to get players in on loan.
Ahh I knew Victor would be along. We're rubbish at producing players......McEachran, Bertrand, Chalobah, Bruma, Van Aanholt, John Terry etc....not to mention the likes of Scott Sinclair, Jack Cork etc....
I'm not sure on the aspects of the deal though as Chelsea weren't too keen on the buy back deal which Barca seem to be doing with most of their young players. However, if that's the case, he'll play a few games in the next couple of years, but not enough to warrant Barca buying him back.
