Svlad Cjelli Let's be honest - the spending is as much about being seen to be spending money and showing ambition as it is about getting the best and most appropriate players.

Royal Rother It's the combined £75m on Carroll, Henderson and Downing that really makes me

Hoop Blah What they apparently did though was get an agreement to secure the hottest English centre forward for £15m less than they sold their want away Torres.
In effect they turned a non-scoring injury prone centre forward who didn't want to be there into quite an exciting partnership for just £7-8m.

Svlad Cjelli You forgot the anger-management and off-the field issues they bought as part of the package.

Still a good player though and the makings of a very effective partnership as well.
It might well go wrong but I don't think you can just say they've been buying players for loads of money to make themselves look good to the Sky viewing punter.

No Fixed Abode Thing is, if Henderson, Adam and Downing had signed for the big four we'd all be a bit

I'd say they've had a bit more than just 'recent' success.
